I have finding discount on my pc and I cannot delete it. Norton finds it and I have option to uninstall which brings up full screen image from the vendor asking me not to uninstall and asking me to put in a captcha type code but none of that works. it also does the same thing when I select removal from windows control panel.

I need this off my system. power eraser finds it great but I cant get it gone!

Re: Finding Discount

This is a simple PUP (potentially unwanted program) ...it's adware, it's annoying, and you need to get rid of it. Try Malwarebytes first. https://www.malwarebytes.org/lp/sem/5/?gclid=CO6HktnDocYCFQqVfgodwEoA8g The free version is fine, and should work.

If that, or uninstalling program doesn't work...this is a browser add-on, or extension. So, depending on what browser you are using, you need to remove the extension. For Firefox, it's Tools>add-ons>extensions (left side) ...find it and remove it. For Internet Explorer, Open Internet Explorer,  Navigate to top menu and click on Tools. Next, select Manage add-ons from the list. A window where in you can manage Internet Explorer add-ons will open. Click Toolbars and Extensions on left side of the window.
Then, to remove the malware from this list, simply highlight it and click on Remove button. If Finding Discount is not present, it might be using a different name. Find and delete related entries like findingdiscount.exe, Ads by Finding Discount.

For Google Chrome, Open Google Chrome.
2. Locate and click the Wrench or Three-bars icon on top-left portion of the browser. Then, select Settings from the list.

3. Once it opens a window, click on the Extensions located on left side panel.

4. With basic installation, Google Chrome will install itself originally with no extensions, so this space would be empty unless you manually installed some add-ons. Remove any unwanted entries related to this virus.

5. You may now restart Google Chrome.

If none of that works, Avast has a tool called browser clean-up that will restore all your browsers to default settings, but you could lose some desired settings/bookmarks/add-ons/extensions in the process. So this is last resort. First try and see and if it's in all browsers, or just one. http://www.precisesecurity.com/tools-resources/adware-tools/avast-browse...

For the future, to NOT get these programs installed on your machine, you need to be very careful "how" you install desired programs. The latest trick, after they learned that people typically now check for the little boxes, is to "hide" these malware programs inside "default" installations. So when you are installing a program, always chose "CUSTOM" installation, and often times you will find the little box that needs to be UNCHECKED there.

Re: Finding Discount

Whatever...just because I'm new here, doesn't mean I'm new. I've been doing this for over 25 years...very successfully, and on many forums. Or maybe it was that my picture shows a woman that offended you...you obviously didn't take the time to do any research. Geesh.

Those forums will give same advice...I'm just doing the actual legwork to save a browser trip in an obviously infected browser.
