Activation Date

A shop has an offer on Norton Security but advert mentions "activation in store" this may be just some store security. I won't want to install key untill my current licence expires. Previously I've bought keys which only activate when installed -has anything changed?

Re: Activation Date

Community has reports regarding "activation in store".

Last I heard "activation in store" is for loss control aka shoplifting....
There's a barcode for "activation in store" but, your subscription starts upon your register/activate.
There were reports of chain store managing subscriptions...
Please confirm terms from "shop"...

Re: Activation Date

In addition to bjm_'s guidance:

Best Buy manages their own subscriptions to AV software. Other retailers don't require this. Once you sign up for that you're at their mercy in terms of renewal, etc.

I've bought security software from other reputable outlets without the need for activating in the store. This is not only an issue for Norton but for other security vendors as well.
