Advanced Sonar Error

Hello everyone,

I have an issue with the Advanced SONAR component for Norton Internet Security.  I keep on getting the message that my PC is not protected by Advanced SONAR.  I have tried the Norton Remove/Reinstall feature and everything seems to be fine for 3 to 4 days and I get the message again that my PC is not protected by Advanced SONAR.  I have also tried deleting out of date Java and updating it and it doesn't seem to work either.  When I check the Advanced SONAR, it looks to be on but I can't switch it on and off because it's locked in a grey scale.  As you can see, I have run out of option as to how to troubleshoot this issue.  Has anyone else had this issue?  If so, I would be very interested in your solutions.

Thanks in advance. :)

Re: Advanced Sonar Error

As indicated before in my last post, I can't seem to fix my Advanced SONAR protection error after doing the Remove/Reinstall and checking Java.  I have attached the way things appear at this time.

Re: Advanced Sonar Error

Have you run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available?

Also, you might try disabling the Windows Fast Startup feature. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.

Re: Advanced Sonar Error

Thanks for the reply.  I did disable the Windows Fast Startup feature for Windows 10 and it seemed to work for awhile in correcting the Advanced SONAR issue.  However, the problem just emerged again today and I'm back at square one with this problem.  I'm currently lost for solutions at this present time.  I also have Malware Bytes Anti-malware and Super Anti-Spyware on my computer.  Would you think this is contributing to the problem?

Re: Advanced Sonar Error

Have you restarted your computer so make sure all Norton and Windows updates have been properly installed?

Malwarebytes is used by many here on the forums. If you use the full paid version, you need to make exceptions to both programs to stop them from detecting each other. If it is just the free version you are using, there should be no conflicts.

Re: Advanced Sonar Error

I'll add that if both MBAM and SAS are running and real time it would be wasting your system resources.  SAS detection rate is pretty low, or it was last time the program was tested, so it is better kept as an on demand scanner only.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.
