Another reported, much more serious bug still present

Norton Security seems to still refuse to let my Windows 7 x64 machine shut down.  This will be a deal breaker for me.

Reported here  -  https://community.norton.com/forums/computer-refuses-shutdown-after-upda...

PLEASE FIX ASAP!

Hi, You mean the one which put you in trouble before you left beta board? Thats bad. . . . . . . . . . Can you find anything intersting in eventviewer logs? . . . . . . . Does ' powercfg/requests ' or ' powercfg/energy ' give any clue?

"7) Click "Yes" and then "OK" to restart your computer.

Your computer will now restart."

Hi Gayathri,

How am I to gather logs when my system won't restart or shutdown???

Force a restart by pressing your reset button on your tower. If it's a laptop I am not sure how to do a reset there. Hm idk if that'll work if you don't press "Yes".

Maybe try a command line restart or task manager.

Stupid me!

I installed the trial on my other Windows 7 x64 machine  -  it only takes between 5 and 10 minutes to shutdown or restart but at least it does.  I guess my two machines are special.

Most of us realized early on that particular "beta test" was smoke and mirrors to push out a so-called new product with new "beta versions" that would ignore what people were posting on the board. The "wolf" is going to get a lot of new business.

Re: Another reported, much more serious bug still present

Hi Dave,

Open Event Viewer, section Windows and search for Diagnostics Performance section.

There look for events with id 201-210 (shutdown performance).

See what potential NS driver(s), hang and post back...

Cheers,

Dave,

If the sent logs do not reveal anything useful you may want to try this:

Don't be afraid, it's far less complicated than it looks.
