Anti-Spam / Pop Ups

I have Norton Security. Have had Norton product pretty much all my computer days. I want to know how to disable the SPAM pop-ups that Norton keeps popping up. Anti-Spam is enabled. I view the pop-ups as spam, and unwanted. If I cannot control the use of Norton, I will not be a Norton customer after the subscription is finished. These things are obviously not mentioned in the sale of Norton Security. I suggest you start saying, we have included pop-ups to use content from our sponsors, and see how many you sell. I don't buy Norton products to get sales/affiliate/recommendation pop-ups, I buy it to protect my PC.  Essentially, you're telling me I am paying to be given ads to your affiliates and sponsors and so forth? I don't pay to look at ads.

Re: Anti-Spam / Pop Ups

Hello armyissue69 From your Norton dashboard (system tray icon) open Norton. Then open administrative settings. Move the "Special Offer Notification" slider to the right and OFF. That should take care of most advertising popups. Additionally, when you see popups after they appear 3-4 times you should see an option "never show this again", if so click it.

Re: Anti-Spam / Pop Ups

I tried this "fix" three days ago, IT DOESN'T WORK!  I still get Norton pop-up spams on my computers and this is going to END my relationship with Norton.  I may even take this issue to Facebook and let everyone know that Norton removes "most" spam but invades your computers with their spam.  I have had Norton on all my computers for years, but this issue is going to end the annuity I send them each year and I will find protection that respects my right to be spam free.

Re: Anti-Spam / Pop Ups

I have a Mac computer.  The "Administrative Window" of the Mac version of Norton Secure Premium is NOT at all as detailed as the Windows version, and lacks the "Special Offer Notification" section.  So my question is, on a Mac, how does one shut-off Special Offer Notifications?  Thank you

Re: Anti-Spam / Pop Ups

After a very frustrating two weeks of battling this nuisance I opened a chat window with Norton.  After the usual dialect barriers we got down to solving the problem, which included the suggestion above.  But when I reported that did not solve the problem he said I must also shut off the Norton Task Notification.  Who knew that the way to imbed spam is to make it part of the little pop up that tells us Norton is working on the system.  Who cares, just do what I pay for and stop telling me you are doing it.  So I shut it off and now the Norton SPAM is gone, or so it seems after 5 days of no spam pop ups from the company I pay to protect me from pop up spams.  Is that a circular problem?

Has anyone else experiencing this situation tried the above bolded suggestion?

I have never heard of this before - anyone care to comment?

Re: Anti-Spam / Pop Ups

I suspected that the pop-ups were not coming from the internet last week when our wireless system went down at the tower, yet I was still getting the pop-ups on all 5 computers "protected" by Norton.  This meant is was imbedded in the software on my computer and triggered by some timer they built into the system.  I find this VERY frustrating and although my problem is solved I think I may drop Norton because of this deception.  Why do we need to dig deep into the system to stop the annoying pop-ups we pay Norton to protect us from.

Re: Anti-Spam / Pop Ups

The method I listed above has worked on my computers, the special offers button did NOTHING to solve the problem.  It took the task notification to stop the pop-ups.  The only thing that changed, other than the annoying pop-ups, is the little white window that tells me they are checking the system, which I never cared about anyway.
