Any word on when we will get local identity safe back?

Since there's almost a complete consensus that losing the option of storing your identity safe locally in NIS 2013 was an extremely bad move by Norton, what can we expect that option to be restored?  There's certainly nothing wrong with having the ability to store our identity saves on the cloud but many of us feel much more comfortable (and safer) storing it locally!

Norton are you listening?

At least a fully provided an answer to user questions!  Not what users want to hear but....

I'm glad to see that we will be able to get rid of the share button but I'm extremely disappointed about the vault situation!

Having the vault online makes things extremely difficult for me because I have a disability and can only utilize the computer using voice recognition. Using the online vault I have to login twice instead of onetime to use it. I only use one PC so synchronizing across platforms is totally useless for me. I really don't understand the problem with leaving both options available for users!

Hello Msradell,

I am with you 100%. I also have medical disability...mine is neurological and stopped me from working and driving years ago. Because of that, I am homebound and don't get to places like I was once able to. So with that I don't have or will ever use mobile devices.

I also use only one home PC and no use ever for synchronizing across platforms either. Like you and many others, I don't understand why both options aren't left available for users.

I'll upgrade to the 2013 version only when all the bugs are finally worked out. Even then, it will be an upgrade, as that's the only way to retain local Identity Safe. I will never trust banking logins and others spread around servers.

Close to a year from now, will probably have to find someone else to go with as far as security, after almost 12 years with Norton. Or a really good secure password manager that fills in info like Identity Safe, with the info on the computer like mine is now.

While I hope I'm wrong I suspect that we'll only get the local identity safe back if & when someone hacks into several online vaults or security is compromised another way.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

We've all seen that post.  It's just PR from Norton telling us that they know best!  No matter how much they harp on it there's no way that storing the data online is more secure than me storing it locally!  They need to start listening to customers and not trying to justify what they want to do!  Otherwise customers are going to move to some other vendor who provides what they want.
