Anyone now using Toolbar/IDSafe with 64 Bit Chrome?

After all the FireFox mess(s) I was wondering if anyone is now using the current ToolBar with IDSafe on 64 bit Chrome. I have 64 Bit Windows 10 Pro.

I thought I may install Chrome and use it when we have Firefox issues which seem too often!

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!

FWIW...

I'm using two of the four possible "current version" Norton Chrome extensions on 32-bit Chrome under 64-bit Win-10/Pro - Norton Identity Safe (1.0.5) and Norton Security Toolbar (2015.5.4.11) ... These still continue to function as well as they have been since the new NTB solution for Chrome was implemented by the Norton programmers some time ago (after the Google programmers killed the option for allowing "conventional" 3rd party toolbar addins for Chrome).  This decision forced the Norton programmers to come up with a workaround to get their toolbar back onto the Chrome display. Since it could no longer live in the previously provided reserved display space, it now had to wedge itself into the webpage's display space...

So yes; There are some rendering issues with some websites due to the HTML injection method now used to insert the NTB into the top of the website display. Some websites are (to varying degrees) affected by this - Sometimes causing hotlinks on the rendered webpage to not function as expected. Other times negatively impacting the intended/expected depiction of the website. It can also induce a "vertical jumpiness" thereby making the websites difficult to navigate and/or to enter information into.

When I encounter these more problematic websites I use the Hide "^" Button (which is unique to the Chrome NTB) to make the website viable/viewable again. Using the Hide button does not seem to affect the hidden NTB's ability to auto-fill website logon fields...

Of course YMMV...

Cheers!
John

Great, I guess the Chrome extensions are loaded when I install it as my version for FireFox shows 2015.5.6.76.

I just installed Chrome 64-bit and all seems to be working just as it did on the 32-bit version.

Normally what happens is, your currently installed Norton product detects the newly installed Chrome and in turn prompts/notifies/pops-up (in the lower right-corner of the desktop) a message (with option buttons) about installing the Norton Chrome extensions ... If that prompting (for any reason) fails to occur, you can, using your newly installed Chrome, navigate to:

https://identitysafe.norton.com/client?server=1

... and there acquire the extensions (Note: make sure that your Chrome browser is being correctly identified by the extensions website and that your installed Norton product matches the product selection shown - if not, then change the selection to match the currently installed product).

Cheers!

Re: Anyone now using Toolbar/IDSafe with 64 Bit Chrome?

Great. I have heard that Chrome is faster that FF as well. I did install 32 bit Chrome on my wife's XP system and I "believe" that IDSafe is working, but the only thing I don't like about Chrome is the lack of toolbars. I believe there is only a Norton Icon on the right. I do not know of any way to have it kind of work like FireFox. Anyway, I can install 64 bit chrome on my 64 bit Win 10 system and see what happens.

You need to install and enable two extensions in Chrome.

You should have a toolbar just as with FF (when it works) and IE.

Re: Anyone now using Toolbar/IDSafe with 64 Bit Chrome?

Well, I can see what happens. I do remember enabling these two for her Chrome 32 bit, but do not see a toolbar like FF. Don't get me started on IE11 as I still can not fill in Multiple Gmail accounts passwords there. They broke it months ago and said they were working on it. I would be happy to just get FF working, but perhaps Chrome will be even better.

I think I will install 64 bit Chrome now...Cover me, I'm goin in!

Hello MPSAN

You may end up liking Chrome better than the working Firefox. You won't have to update it as often as you have to do with Firefox and wait for Norton Toolbar to catch up. Btw, when the Norton Toolbar for Firefox is all finished, it is supposed to work like the Norton Toolbar for Chrome.

Thanks.

Re: Anyone now using Toolbar/IDSafe with 64 Bit Chrome?

Yes, I do have FF now updated to Ver 42. Why not, since my 40.0.3 was broken. However, I am using Chrome 64 bit now and do like it. So far all seems to be working. I guess I need to get used to not having the usual choices on the top line in Chrome, but I can get there anyway.

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!
