Auto Fill 'fills' but does not work

I can login to my Identity Safe Vault and have loads of saved logins.

When I go to web pages which require a 'login' the login details, normally 'user name' and 'password' are automatically filled in.

But when I click a 'login' button it gets rejected.

Let's say my User name is 'admin' and my password is 'London'

If I delete the last letter of my user name, in the case the  'n' and re-type it in, and do the same with the last letter of my password and then click the 'login' button, it works.

So I don't have to re-type the whole user name and password, just the last letter of each.

This hasn't always been the case but probably for the last couple of years, I've just not got around to finding a solution.

Re: Auto Fill 'fills' but does not work

some websites don't like auto-fill (security & other reasons)

try page refresh

try click-to-fill

some users deliberately leave off the last character(s) as not to have complete credentials stored in their password manager

Ah, I think you could be right. I've just tried some low profile websites and the login works.

My Credit Card website doesn't work, I have to delete and re-type the last letter.

Thanks

Re: Auto Fill 'fills' but does not work

I requested support from Norton about this issue, since for me it has accelerated over the past month or two.  Based on feedback and changes made be one of my financial sites, I think that there have been security changes by Google and other providers that may be showing up in this problem for us.

I had a support person go through everything, including updating my browsers, Norton program and subroutines and he still got the same result.  He indicated that it would be sent upwards to the technical folks to look at/into.

Re: Auto Fill 'fills' but does not work

I just spent 90 minutes with "Robyn" from Norton support trying to figure out this issue.  Basically it appears to primarily impact Internet Explorer, since I do not find the same annoying errors with Chrome - just the annoyance of Chrome itself. She said that it is something to do with "flashing" but I don't know what that means.

Since it is a problem with Internet Explorer (and prior Norton agent uninstalled it and reinstalled IE to verify it wasn't corrupted) Robyn told me to "contact Microsoft for support since it is their software that isn't working" and then disconnected the session before I could respond.

VERY ANNOYING to simply pass the buck!

I like the Norton products but this is really poor performance on multiple levels.

If anyone figures out why IE does not function correctly with NIS for some sites I would love to know!
