Auto Update ain't workin'

About to dump Norton Internet Security 2012 if this can't be solved. Brand spanking new machine with NIS preloaded. I use FireFox 12.0 and have the well documented 'no Norton toolbar'. My version is 19.0.0.128. Instruction from this board talks about running Auto Update until no more are available and then restart  to get the 19.7.0.9 patch . Not working. The suggested maunual update link leads you to a 'new version' check utility which keeps saying "you've got the latest version".

Love my computer. Not liking Norton right now.

Are you clicking a link from the Support link?

You need to click on the LiveUpdate link from the main User interface. See below.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Auto Update ain't workin'

You bet I do....and did. Multiple times. Over several days. And I still have only version 19.0.0.128. (and yes, I shut down and restart my system daily). When I follow the 'manual download' link as outlined by Norton's Tony Weiss, it tells my I've already got the "latest version", without giving the opportunity to actually manually download anything.

Checking into other password systems and internet security....

Re: Auto Update ain't workin'

Hi notsosure,

Actually by being on version 19.0.0.128, you are in fact two updates behind.  The current version is 19.7.1.5.  I would suggest that you run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool :

 https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?lg=english&ct=united+states&docid=20110217171332EN&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home

After the installation,  run LiveUpdate (rebooting when requested) until such time as LiveUpdate responds "no more updates found".  The reboot one more time.

As a precaution, if you haven't already, please Export your ID Safe Data to a safe location for it to be available for Import after running the tool if necessary.

Please keep us informed.

Just another thought, is this a trial product, or a fully licensed product?  In either case, how many days are shown as left in the Subscription status?  Active trial or fully licensed should update, but an expired trial or non-licensed product will not update.

Sorry but you did what? Use the Support Link? That will not update your product.

You need the LiveUpdate.

If that is not working with LiveUpdate, you can try clicking on Support - Get Support. This will start Autofix which will check your installation and try to fix it.

If that does not work, you will have to try Yank's suggestion to remove and reinstall.
