Why doesn't autofill work on websites when my vault is open?

Hi JoanSmith,

Do you have it turned on in your Vault Settings?

Open Vault > click on three dots > select Open Identity Safe Settings > go to Browsing Tab and verify Autofill my Logins when I visit websites is check marked.

If just for a single website, go to it's login entry and verify Auto Fill is check marked on the individual login.

I just ran live update and currently norton security is running 22.5.0,124.  Autofill is not working.  It did fill for me when I came to the norton community, but will not work for other sites - facebook, att mail, and others.  I am running Firefox 37.  It appears to be mostly an issue when I have multiple logins for a site.  Even if I open the vault and click on the login, it takes me to the site, but will not autofill.  autofill is turned on.

An update - this does not work with IE browser either.  It appears to be a problem when there are multiple logins for a site.  I use this all the time.  Does someone have any suggestions?  The only thing I can think of is to remove the additional logins, but that is not what I want to do.

Hi janmh, sorry to hear of your situation, unfortunately I am running NSBU which has not been updated to 22.5.0.124 yet, so I can not try to duplicate this for you on that version.

I am on 22.5.0.120 the former update which caused other problems and I can in fact  us ID Safe to autofill sites with Multiple log-ins, so it appears to be a new situation with version 22.5.0.124.

I'll pass that on to the admins.  @Tony_Weiss

I am running NIS 22.5.0.124 with Local vault and my multiple logins on the same site are working fine.
I also have NSwB Beta 22.5.0.120 on another system with Local vault and multiple logins are working there also.

Jim, I am running Norton Security and Win 8.1.   After running live update and receiving 22.5.0.124, I began having this issue.  I thought auto fill was not working at all, but then was able to determine it is only on multiple logins.

Yes I had this happening in the previous build as well. I just did not report it since it was such a mess. Thought it would be fixed in this build and it is not.

        Thanks for reporting this issue. We need some additional information to identify the actual issue.

        Did you set those sites as Browser Home page? If yes, Is it working fine when you launched same site in new tab?

        Also, Can you able to share us the screenshot with facebook and att mail page?

Att.yahoo.com is a browser home page, but the mail login is a separate link. The login page looks like it always did, but the prompt from norton identity safe to choose the login I want to use does not show up.  It normally appears prompting me to select the login I wish to use.  As stated earlier, days ago, I removed the 2nd login for FB and autofill was not working.  Today, all of a sudden, autofill started to work in FB.  I had just done a live update.  I checked my att login, still not working.  I had gone to amazon, where I also have multiple logins.  I had to type in my password as no prompt appeared.  However, when I logged out of amazon, the login screen appeared and the prompt for mulitple logins appeared.  I don't know what a screen shot will show you.  Let me know if you still need it.

Since FB now recognizes the autofill for me, I decided to add back in my second login and it works.  I will try the same thing for my other multiple logins as it is becoming a hassle for me to be able to do my work.  Thank you for any of you that have been trying to solve this for me.

As posted my Multiple login sites are working but I reported in this Beta thread about a similar problem with some sites not auto filling. These same sites still fail.

On my other system (Windows 8.1) I updated to the Final of NIS 22.5.0.124 and have the same problem with the 3 sites from my original post. I am also running NSwB Beta 22.5.0.120 on a Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 systems and same problem.

All Systems:

FF 38.0.5, IE 11 and NTB 2015.5.0.111 and all fail.

I see reports of other people having problems with logins with this new upgrade.

My issue also began with NSwB  v22.5.0.124

Sites with single log-in the auto-fill fills in just fine. For sites where I have multiple log-ins, the auto-fill does nothing. Previously there would be a drop-down choice. Now that no longer appears.

I'm having the same problem, somewhat, for some time now. Little by little I'm loosing automatic logons. First it started to not logon to my forums if I used reply links from an email. I had to go directly from IE, bring up the site and have Norton logon me on that way, then I was good as long as I didn't clean cookies during as scan.  Now it won't "fill in" unless I open the suite, bring up "Identify Protection", configure and open sight from there.

On top of that, If I keep the Norton toolbar on. It keeps giving me the "install search by ask" popup every time I go to another page. If I install it to get it out of the way, it'll be ok until I go back on IE later on. I'm tired of this popup annoying me every time, but the only way to get rid of it is by reinstalling it every time or turning off Norton tool bar.

 I have had this problem for some time on specific sites with multiple logins. I just updated to a new laptop with windos 8 hoping that would correct it. It didn't. I know you need specifics to investigate. I will tell you this. It has been this way for sometime now and with several versions of Firefox, IE, Chrome, NIS, N360, Windows Vista, 7 and now 8. Very Very Frustrating. Norton is awesome, I swear by it. Not NIS Identity Safe, I swear at it. One of their weaker products. Sorry. I was hoping to find an answer here but again no luck. I guess I'm not helping just ranting. So again I apologize. It's frustrating and time consuming when you no longer remember your passwords or write them down and the program you purchased to do that doesn't. I'll keep trying if something works I'll post. Again sorry for ranting

Well, here I am again.  FB not working again.  So ATT and FB not liking multiple logins.   I really liked the way identity safe took care of all my logins - but now it is a real pain.

Don't know if this will help any in troubleshooting: I log into my vault.  Since ATT and FB won't autofill, I type in my username and password.  As soon as I select login, on both sites, the username and password fields turn "yellow" which is what they do on autofill, the prompt for multiple logins appears briefly, and then I am logged in.  It's as if autofill "completes" after I type in my credentials but then immediately logs me in.  I hope this will help in solving this issue.

Something to try, after you log into your vault, select ATT or FB and in lieu of typing in the username and password,  wait to see if in fact they do eventually auto-fill.  In other words, there may be a longer delay than expected in auto-filling.

I'm suggesting this based on the latest info your provided - it just might be taking longer than expected to auto-fill.

Waiting makes no difference.  And all other sites autofill immediately. Just went to FB and not only did it autofill, but also gave me multiple login choice.  Yesterday it wouldn't.  ATT still not autofill.

Having the same problem since receiving 22.5.0.124. Autofill had been working fine before. It seems to be most sites with multiple logins but not always. I have found at least 2 sites with multiple logins (one is Amazon) where it gives me the choice as usual and works fine. But I've also found a site with a single login that doesn't work - autofill is selected and it worked fine before. Really annoying when you've got a lot of complex passwords to fill in.

It's getting worse. A site that worked this morning is not working now. Fills user but not password.

This problem was reported during Beta but this version was released anyway.

Since the "upgrade" to 22.5.0.124, Norton 360 does not work like it used to.  Autofill works for some sites (multiple and single logins) and doesn't for others that used to work fine prior to version change.  Also, when I first open the vault to sign in, it's minimized on the task bar, I have to expand it to login.

Ok, to add to all of this frustration. In order for me to get back here I have to keep asking for a new password. Even though I have mine written down in front of me, it will not recognize it twice. Even if I just logged out! And autofill doesn’t work here either.

So now I enter my email, hit “Forgot my password”, wait for a new one to arrive in my email usually never on the first try or two), come back (5,10min later), log on and change my password back to what I had or similar.

This time again it didn’t send, went back to “Forgot my password” and was told I requested too many pw changes  and I have to prove I’m human by typing in the caricatures on a pic that I can only describe as a tiny blurred picture…..

 Ok, still waiting. I’ll try again…..

When you set up a new password, you have to be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the profile page and click on Save. 

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

My NIS just updated this morning and now Identity Safe does not auto fill on any website listed within it, that I have tried (about 15 before I got tired of doing Norton's testing for them).  It worked just fine prior to updating to 22.5.0.124 this morning.  Now all accounts and passwords must be entered manually which defeats the purpose of Identity Safe.  In addition, if you use Identity Safe to navigate to the website, Internet Explorer 11 crashes and re-opens.

PS:  The forum also did not like my password even though it was written down and saved.

Have you restarted your computer since the update? Some have reported needing 2 or 3 restarts to get everything working correctly after the update.

If you use Win 8/8.1, an issue with Windows 8/8.1 is the Fast Start feature. With this enabled, you may not actually get a full shutdown, which is needed by Norton, and other programs, every once in a while to fully update itself. The update required a reboot.  Plus, I am now on reboot number 4.  No change to the Auto-Fill issue. 

Internet Explorer no longer crashes when navigating through Identity Safe though now after the fourth reboot.  But Auto-Fill does not work that way either. 

And my e-mail and password worked for logging on the first time this time too.

I am running Windows 7 Pro and Internet Explorer 11.  Both with the latest Microsoft updates.

I updated to the new version of NS yesterday and after checking it out all is working ok but noticed the auto log in feature didn't work when I tried logging into my Steam forums site. This has three different log ins, the forums, the game site and their support site. When I logged into my other web sites and email programmes the auto login feature worked just fine.

I didn't update to the first problematic version, I waited for the new offering of V.22.5.0.124 I am running on W7 Home Prem and IE 11 

Forgot to mention, my Facebook site has two logins, my own and my wife's and that worked ok, although that has a different set up as it shows a drop down menu offering on the Facebook page unlike the Steam page.

Ever since NIS updated to 22.5.0.124 the auto fill feature of Identity Safe does not work (I am running Windows 7 Pro).  I have rebooted multiple times over several days since the update.  It still does not work.  It does not work with one tab, doesn't work in a second tab, or third, etc.   It does not work in Internet Explorer 11.  It does not work in Firefox 38.  It does not work in Chrome 43.  It does not work.

Received an update and a patch this morning to NIS, but Identity Safe still does not work. 

Is there a plan to fix?

I am having the same issues as everyone here. The autofill does not work on most sites like it did prior to the update. This true for FF, Chrome and IE. I an at NSBU 22.5.0.124. Please fix this. It is incredibly annoying and many, many people have now reported this.

Same here since updating to NIS 22.5.0.124. The issue is occurring on both my browsers on this PC (IE 11.0.9600 and Firefox 38.0.5).

Some logins work (mostly my WordPress Dashboard logins), but others don't, e.g.Amazon, Tesco, eBay. Also, some logins on https work while other don't, so no pattern there I can see.

I tried deleting logins that didn't work and remade them, but no change. I had no issues at all on this same machine with the same browsers until about a week ago when I updated NIS to 22.5

Not working here since this last update. And the previous version was buggy at times. Seems that Norton products are slowly progressing to a sub-par product. It's getting harder to justify my purchases for subscriptions/software that continue to increase in costs, yet continue to decrease in usability and functionality.

Either Norton/Symantec needs to stops making changes to a product that once functioned great, or fix the issues prior to release and updates, or I suspect they will begin to see a decline in subscribers and income.

Thanks for your patience.

We've released a browser patch targeting this autofill issue and this update is available via Live Update.

This patch targets Norton Security, Norton Security with Backup, Norton Internet Security, Norton 360 & Norton Antivirus 22.5.0.124 products.

Please run Live Update until all the updates are installed, then try to reproduce the autofill issue and let us know the if it works.

Note: There will not be any version change after applying this patch.

Two more things:

1) Could you also mention the sites that started autofilling after this patch? 

2) If there is a site that still doesn't work after this patch, please list it in the thread.

Tried 2 sites that had stopped autofilling (BT Mail & QVC UK). Both now working fine so looks as if the problem is fixed, thank you..

Hi Mohan,

Previously Scotiabank (Canada) would not populate for me. After the browser patch it now works fine. I believe webmail.telus.net did not previously work, but it works after the browser patch as well.

This patch does not work for me. I have Norton Security version 22.2.0.31. I've done repeated live updates, rebooted, checked for new versions, etc. No updates, no Toolbar.

Is there something else I can do or try to fix this problem.

Note: I went back to 38.0.5 and the Toolbar is back. Still looking for a solution.

Following the recent patch to NIS 22.5.0.124, the Auto Fill is now working for me with both IE 11 and FF 39.  I haven't tried Chrome.  Works with all accounts maintained in Identity Safe.

Have you checked what version is by your Norton account.  As soon as 22.5 was announced I had 22.5 in my Norton account. 
I pulled the Downloader to my desktop.  Ran the Downloader which places Installation folder on my desktop.  Looking in folder I see 22.5
Have you tried NRnR Tool to refresh install and hopefully install latest version as NRnR Tool is supposed to do. 
NUC will tell you up to date because NUC only looks at number before the first dot  eg: v22.

I have enquired to Norton about a patch for those NS/NSBU who desire to stay on 22.2 for FF 39. There will be no response before Monday most likely if then. Also, I don't think that the foreign languages for NS/NSBU 22.5 have been released yet. They should hopefully be released very soon, if not already. Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.17.2.47 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

By foreign languages do you mean anywhere but the US? My location is Canada - English. And its curious that I am sitting at 22.2.0.31, which was released on April 7.

Tried logging in to check version and could not proceed past the secure login and account verification page.

At this point I think I will wait to let Norton sort out their problems. Seems like we have a mess like this on an annual basis.
