Automatic Renewal Notice and US Mail Service

I have a subscription to Norton Security that expires on February 23, 2020. I have shut off my auto renewal to this product a few months after buying it. Within the last 3 weeks I have received two "Action Requested" letters going through the US Mail Service to my home. This is the first for me receiving Norton renewal notices through the US Mail Service. I believe it is bad practice for a Computer Security Company sending this information through the US Mail Service. The information included in this notification was my Full Name, Address, My Norton Log In Email Address and the Name of the product subscribed too.

If this notice was ever delivered to the wrong address, which the postal carriers sometimes do, and they open the Action Requested Notice they would see this information. If it fell into the wrong hands my email box would be loaded with SPAM and they would know where I live. It was just last week we had someones car payment notice delivered to our home. Yes I opened it by mistake and seen all the information on it. I hand delivered it 2 miles away to where is was to go and apologized for opening the letter. The person was very friendly and understood.

Unless I'm not seeing it, I don't see anywhere in my account to shut down Norton's US Mail Notification. Norton SHOULD NOT be sending this information through the US Mail Service.

Re: Automatic Renewal Notice and US Mail Service

I totally agree with the security concerns.  I wanted to make a more basic complaint.  My present subscription expires late November.  For the past four weeks I have gotten reminders from Norton that my auto renewal is turned off, and I am at risk of losing protection ( five months from now).  I predict these will arrive weekly.  I have no clue what postage rates are for these notices, but I would bet that if Norton scaled these mailings back using common sense ( or perhaps just email customers a few times) the company might just be able to scale back their grossly inflated auto renewal price to be more competitive to what you can buy the program for on line or at a store.  Norton ought to be REWARDING renewal customers rather than charging them more.

All: I have religiously removed ALL my billing information as soon as my products are installed. I've never received any snail mail from Norton ever. That may do the trick for you as well since as long as marketing has mailing information on file to harvest those mailing will go out automated.

Norton makes excellent products and I believe that they put tremendous efforts in improving their programs. However, dealing with the company Norton is like dealing with a bureaucratic government agency from the 90s, I wouldn't be surprised if they mail you a form and ask you to get stamped by a local authority before you return it . Norton should put more effort to improve communication efficiency and should get closer to their customers.

Re: Automatic Renewal Notice and US Mail Service

I had this as "Solved" following SoulAsylum's information in the post above. I had to withdraw the "Solved" because I received another notice in the mail today. I'll wait a few weeks to see if I receive another notice in the mail because I've been getting them every 2 to 3 weeks. I will take into account that the last weekend was the 4th of July Weekend in the USA. If the notices stop I'll mark SoulAsylum's post as solved again. I'm hoping that this isn't true, once they start sending out notices with your home address even if you delete all your information (except your email address) in your account, they will keep coming automatically. We'll see in a few weeks if I get another notice.
