Back Again ......

..... I only arrive here about once a year after I renew.  Again I can't login to the Community and have to re-register again from the start, but I am used to that!!

This year upgraded to Premium with key.  Since when the 'home'/'devices'/ and 'services' buttons results for my account have varied with the wind!!  Currently, the little icon screen on 'home' has a red X for my linked computers.  This is the same for 'devices' but showing old and new keys for different computers!!  The only correct listing is under 'services' which shows the true position with the linked computers and current status.

I have had Norton in its various forms for about 20 years now (if that's possible!!) and have not seen this farcical display of information before.  Although, when I added a Windows 10 based computer about 10 months ago that was a hassle as it wanted to keep calling it a '30 day trail'.

It would appear that NS on linked computers are working well and without a problem ... it's just when I look at my account details I wonder what is going on!

If anyone one is able to introduce clarity it would be welcome ... otherwise I shall assume everything is working OK and wait for my next notification that my Norton subscription has expired!!

Cheers,  Bob.

Re: Back Again ......

Hello Bob12

To get into this Forum now, it is necessary to log into your Norton Account before trying to get into the Forum. If you try to sign into your old Forum account after signing into your Norton Account, you should be able to log into your old Forum Account.

Norton is now run as a Service so that probably accounts for Services tab to show the information correctly. You can, is you want to, change the items so they are correct. The important thing is that all of your computers show a Norton Icon with the Green checkmark in the tray.

Thanks.

Re: Back Again ......

Thanks floplot,

Yes, I had sort of guessed that there had been a change to login again having yet again found out how to post a thread .... and it's easier to login once you have found the 'community' button at the bottom of the home page.

I had tried to change the info under the 'home' and 'devices' tabs but gave up as it didn't want to hold the changes.  But, as you say, the 'services' tabs are OK, and as long as the icons on my screens are green and everything appears to be working OK,  I don't propose waste time and fiddle anymore.

The answer to all this is not to look at your account details :)

Thanks again for your reply - Bob.

The answer to all this is not to look at your account details :)

Or at least, only look at the Services tab, which does show the correct information.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Back Again ......

Thanks peterweb .... I have now also noticed on the NS opening page a difference between my Windows 10 Notepad and my W7 desktop.  I set the renewal/upgrade up on my desktop (as usual) and that's the one that won't apparently accept the change (according to the home and devices tab).  In fact the Notepad shows NS to be named at the top left of the opening page as 'NS with Backup' whereas the Desktop shows the old heading of 'NIS'.  Me thinks I will have to remove NIS from the desktop and reload 'NS with Backup' to cure the problem ... but that's for another day when I feel like fiddling!!

Thanks - Bob.

Re: Back Again ......

As a 'tail' to my post ... all is now fixed!!  I now have the green tick on all computers, and all account details are 'go'!  :)  Although the update downloaded easily to my Notepad the problem with my desktop (on which I initiated the upgrade) was that the upgrade manager download did not pop-up on screen (for whatever reason).  Consequently, I had assumed that it had been done automatically.

Norton was quite content to continue in its old form as just NIS; without Backup on my desktop.  It wasn't until I compared the Norton title in the top left hand of the opening page on each computer that I realised this as the titles were different.  When I looked at my downloads files on the desktop there lurking was the abbreviation for Norton Manager with Backup.  Then it was an easy task to click on the manager and upgrade the desktop.

Now all things as they should be.

Cheers and thanks .... see you next year!!

Bob.
