Backing Up DNG Files

I just did a test in backing up my photos using Norton 360. A review showed that no DNG files were backed up at all.

Is it true that Norton 360 will not back up DNG files unless I "include them as other files"?

That will mean that I need to add the folder where DNG files reside. In this same folders are also JPEG files.

What should I do? Thank you and looking forward to some useful advice.

Re: Backing Up DNG Files

I take it you are using the default Photos setting for your backup set. I would suggest that if you have file types not recognized by Norton, you turn off the Photo selection from the backup set, and manually choose the folders that contain the photos you want backed up.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Backing Up DNG Files

Hi Peter, thank you for the suggestion, I am currently doing just that and once the backup is completed I shall check if the DNG files are there in the backup drive.

This is what I have done:

  1. Checked the Pictures box only
  2. Included folders of pics that are in DNG format.

It should work; backup is running at the 88% mark at the moment.

Peter, manual selection of folders/files worked for me, thank you.

Re: Backing Up DNG Files

I am new in the community and I am not too sure whether I should continue the thread in this Forum section. Please point me to the right direction if I am at the wrong place. I do not find a forum header for Restoration, hence I am still in the thread I first posted in Backup.

Following my question on backing up of files, I proceeded to get familiar and tested file restoration.

While in RESTORE FROM, I could see the name of the backup set (LR3 Photos) in blue. And when I clicked it, I was led to the screen SELECT RESTORE SOURCE. Here I was not able to see LR3 Photos backup set but a previously deleted set named All Photos Only. Backup set LR3 Photos) was created with manual selection of folders.
