Can I back up my cloud vault

I am running Norton Security version 22.17.1.50 on a Windows 7 desktop pc, and am using Norton Password Manager (previously Identity Safe) to store my web page logins and passwords.

I know that Password Manager stores all my logins and passwords in a vault on the cloud (rather than a local vault on my pc).

What I would like to know is this: Is there any way of creating a local backup of my cloud vault, in case Norton has a major disaster one day and loses my entire vault?

I believe that when the vault was local, Norton automatically saved a backup of the vault on my pc from time to time, but I can't find an equivalent set of backups since it moved to the cloud.

Many thanks in advance for any info on this one.

Re: Can I back up my cloud vault

Hello. If you previously had a LOCAL vault on your computer that should still be there. However, Norton does NOT provide a local copy with the new products, it DOES have a directory on your PC named "Norton Backup Drive" which can be accessed following these steps.

My suggestion is to create a backup set on a removable drive for safe keeping. Just change the "backup location" in backup settings. If your removable drive is connected to the computer that drive will show in the area in the screenshot.

Cheers

Re: Can I back up my cloud vault

First check your Documents folder on you computer and look for a folder called Norton Password Manager Backups. It it is there, look for  a folder with you Norton Account email as the name. If that is there, inside that folder would be backups of your cloud vault.

If you cannot find those backups, you can manually back up the vault using the instructions here.    https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v94725076_identity_safe_standalone_1_en_us

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Can I back up my cloud vault

Hi peterweb,

I don't have a NPM Backups folder on my pc (I used to have a Norton Identity Safe Backups folder when IdentitySafe did automatic backups, but that mechanism doesn't appear to work with NPM where the only vault you can have is an online (cloud) vault).

Also, the link you supplied doesn't seem to correspond with being able to back up a cloud vault. I can remember backing up my local vault some time ago using those instructions (when NPM was called IdentitySafe), but there is no Import/Export tab under Settings anymore. (I've attached a pdf of the current NPM Settings window that appears when I select it).

Re: Can I back up my cloud vault

Hi SoulAsylum,

My previous local vault is now well out of date, so not much use now.

Also, I believe that your suggestion re Norton Backup Drive refers to Norton's facility to enable users to regularly backup their files, not the online vault.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Re: Can I back up my cloud vault

Indeed, I gave an incorrect link, many apologies. There is a folder on my machines named in the following directory: C:\Users\Terry\Documents\Norton Identity Safe Backups, this is where my older local vault backups are. The new password manager backups are located at: C:\Users\Terry\Documents\Norton Password Manager Backups, cloud vault backups are there. Peterweb laid that out in his previous post, you can backup this folder to an external device for safe keeping. I have both backed up to a USB drive for safe keeping on my end. Sorry about the confusing post.

Cheers

Sorry I gave an incorrect link for what I was trying to get you to do. This link will work. Scroll down to the section 'Export your Norton Password Manager data from Norton'.   My image shows backing up to .CSV file, but you should also backup to the .dat format, which is encrypted and more secure and also stores your payment information.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
