Can I Disable / Configure Identity Safe Maintenance Task?
I recently upgraded from NIS 20.x (2013) to NIS 21.x (2014) and always have Identity Safe disabled (Settings | Web | Identity Safe | Identity Safe | Off). Since upgrading I noticed that the background Identity Safe Maintenance task now runs outside of system idles for 5 minutes shortly after boot-up and temporarily freezes my computer. With NIS 20.x, this task would only run for 1 sec and the status was always "Failed to Complete" as long as I had Identity Safe disabled.
With NIS 20.x (2013):
With NIS 21.x (2014):
I read Symantec employee Mohan_G's comment in Fraser's locked thread Identity Safe Maintenance that this change was made in Norton v. 188.8.131.52 "by-design", but does anyone know of a way to disable this maintenance task or at least configure it so it only runs during system idles? I don't understand the value of having this task running outside of idle mode and consuming system resources when I don't use Identity Safe.
