Can I remove the id safe icon and program?

Well, it looks like Krusty13, F4E and others have helped me resolve a bunch of issues!

Now that NIS 2014 is reinstalled I have NIS and an id safe icon in my taskbar. Is it now OK to use Windows remove programs to uninstall the idsafe program since I have it back again in NIS 2014?

Again, Krusty13 and F4E, thank you so much for answerring my questions!

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!

MPSAN, yes you can. ID Safe is part of NIS 2014 aka v21, so if you have Identity Safe installed separately, you can uninstall it via the Installed Programs list in Programs and Features, in your Control Panel.

Thank you again. I do not know why this happened and why it forced me to the online vault. Norton insists it is more secure than when people had it on their systems where it could be hacked! I could go back and put the 2013 image back on and try to remove SystemWorks and NU again, but not sure, at this point, it is worth it!

I guess it depends how valuable you find the vault. Personally, I have no use for it, as I don't store passwords. However as I overinstalled from V 2012 like many others, I've retained the local vault should I ever need it...

Symantec say that the cloud vault is as secure, but that's up to the individual as to whether they accept that. In the end, it's your call.

Re: Can I remove the id safe icon and program?

Well, I would prefer it to be local, but I am not sure that if I did a restore, and used NRT again that I would not be back here again. Not sure why I WAS using the local vault before on 2014, but after this process of getting rid of NSW and NU and then reinstalling NIS 2014 this happened. I guess I could do this and put back NIS2013, but I still am not sure it is worth it!

If you are putting back NIS 2013 from an image where you had the local vault working, it should be back when you restore the image. If you did not have the local vault on that image, you will have to recreate it in NIS 2012, them upgrade your product again.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Well, I DID have the local vault in NIS 2013. I can take another image now and if I get time, I can try this again. Now, if this works, I will then need to clear my ONLINE vault! I will need to see how, and IF I should do it after I do my current image but before I restore 2013 again.
