Cannot connect to the Norton server

I have an MSI WS60, originally running Win10Pro, now dual-boot with Win7Ult. I downloaded Norton Security Deluxe today to the original C partition (Win10-1607), and hit a problem when I tried to "add a device," my Lollipop Galaxy Core Prime. After searching your site, I turned off the fast boot, and still have the same issue. I also want to secure my F partition (Win7). I do believe that I have to download a second copy of NSD to Win7 Programs x86. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks Rusty

Re: Cannot connect to the Norton server

Hi R:

Do you see the below screenshot exactly?

Or:

Please give that Retry button a go.

If your issue persists, plz follow this support page.

Meantime, please make sure your local internet connection is OK and/or fast enough. For example, you perform a ping test [press Windows + R > type CMD > input ping www.google.com ]

If the communication between your computer and Norton/Symantec server has been blocked or slowed down due to something, plz read this page and consider using a VPN app like AVG's HMA on your computer.

Last but not least, contact Norton Support if you still can't fix the issue yourself.

Re: Cannot connect to the Norton server

Hi,

Disabling the automatic startup of program   NAHIMICMSI UI Launcher will fix this issue.

Open Task Manager and select the tab Start Up. Disable the program NAHIMICMSI UI Launcher and restart the computer. You should be able to activate Norton program without any issues.

Re: Cannot connect to the Norton server

I found a simple solution. When I installed NSD on my Win7 partition, I was prompted to uninstall Malwarebytes; I did so. I didn't do it on my Win10 partition, and after install and live update, I clicked "Add Device" once again, and it worked without any problems. Thanks Rusty   PS, And.. Oh Yes, I prefer the term Newbert; although I first installed Norton on my computer back in 2001. Seeya

Re: Cannot connect to the Norton server

Hello

You didn't have to uninstall Malwarebytes. One of the updates you got on running Live Update fixed that issue. If you haven't already, you can reinstall the free version of Malwarebytes.

Thanks.

Are you still trying to install on your mobile device? If so, you just go to the Google Play Store and search for Norton Mobile Security. Install the app from there, and then you tap on the 3 bars at the top left and tap on Sign In. Enter your Norton Account email and password to enable the full version.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Cannot connect to the Norton server

The answer from Jithu worked for me. My PC is an MSI laptop, and it comes preloaded with this Nahimic Audio app. Not sure how it was blocking Norton from connecting to the server, but once I disabled it everything worked

Thanks

Re: Cannot connect to the Norton server

I know this thread is mostly old, but just a note here. If you are dual booting it is critically important that you do not have "fast startup" enabled (or hibernate) before you boot to the other OS. It will cause file system corruption in most cases if a hibernated OS's filesystem is accessed.
