Cannot Sign In

This is an intermittent problem, which results in Norton Security apparently running, doing updates etc. but will not let me use Safe Identity because it is not sign in to the Symantec systems. On opening NS the signed in user does not appear and reads Sign In. If I click on this I get a request for my email address and password. I know it connects back to Symantec because it will reject a wrong password. After the correct password is entered pane with a rotating icon appears and then disappears with no valid or error status, and the user is still not signed in. In some cases, clicking on the Sign In has no effect. The usual solution is a reboot, but it seems to happening more often.

The PC is Win 7 Ultimate 64bit and kept up to update. It has had NS and NIS on it for many years, with no issues.

Re: Cannot Sign In

Same here - but after clicking Sign in, got message "An unexpected browser error has occurred". Changing Chrome to Edge to IE proved fruitless. I'm stuck.

Re: Cannot Sign In

Next day, after a shutdown and reloading, I am now signed in. Just wish it would stay like that and not fail to sign in every few days.

Hello Alex M

Edge browser so far is not supported by Norton. It can not be supported until it allows extensions.

Re: Cannot Sign In

After removing NSWB and reinstalling to no avail, restarted, deleted the computer from https://manage.norton.com/ManagementHome and then reinstalled it second time, and I I finally had the green check-mark on again. Ok; some progress! Restart. Still not able to sign in.

Enrolling my wife's help in reading countless threads on the matter yesterday (we are not alone with this issue :-( ) she discovered a solution that involved removing some Asus software.

Strangely enough and driven by despair, I tried uninstalling AI Suite 3, but for did not work. Next, as suggested by the community thread, I was uninstalling some Asus Sonic extension that appeared on Control panel's Programs and features.

Restart.

Amazingly - it worked! I was able to fly through a couple of "Sign-in"s as if nothing happened.

So... it worked for me.

Hope this helps, Alex.

Re: Cannot Sign In

Afraid not. I do have an Asus motherboard but after I had rebuild it, because the C: died, I did not install the Asus software, which was always causing issues, especially with Norton.

So the system has signed me in yesterday and today with no issues. No updates to the system either, apart from routine updates to Windows and a few other items, and certainly none that would impact Norton..
