Is Comcast/Xfinity secure?

My internet provider is Comcast/Xfinity. When booting up I get a message from Norton Security that quote"

"You are connected to an unsecured wireless network \"xfinitywifi\". (F4 3E 9D 00 48 10)".

Question - should I be worried, and if so, how can I fix this?

If that is your wifi network it would be wise to check that it isn't set to open & that you have changed the pre-set SSID & passcode.

Assuming this is your own router's network, you need to set up Wireless Security in the router settings, preferably using WPA-2 (AES).

Hello MichaelvH Anisfeld

Are you running Norton Security Suite from Comcast? If so, you have to get the program from the Comcast website.

Hello ysnk.

Perhaps you can help this user. Not sure if he is running NSS or NS. He is asking if Comcast is secure. Getting notice it is not.

Thanks.

Regardless of which they are running NSS or NS, SOJ's suggestion would be applicable.

Re: Is Comcast/Xfinity secure?

On your infinity gateway, if you have one, you should have the name of your wifi SSD, it sounds like you might be connected to a open xfinity network, possibly your own or your neighbors.    I have a SSD of Xfinitywifi also, and I don't understand how it works, but if my network is not working I can log onto that, but you should have your own SSD set up, with a unique name.  I hope I am not confusing you.  Look at the box they gave you, look at  the bottom or the back, possible the side to see if there is a SSD and sign in.  You probably will go to 10.0.0.1 to sign in, there you can make the changes, I forget what the login is but you can google it.  Good luck

Mike
