Complete C drive backup question

Does anyone do a COMPLETE backup of the 'C' drive to an external drive? If so, what software do you use?  The backup of the Norton product does NOT do this.

Thanks

Re: Complete C drive backup question

What you are looking for is software that will do a backup image of the entire disk or partition.  Macrium Reflect is very good and comes in free and paid versions.  There are also numerous other products, both free and paid.  Everyone should be using imaging software in addition to file backups.  In the event of something catastrophic, such as ransomware encrypting all of your files, or your hard drive suddenly dying, an image allows you to recover your system exactly as it was when the backup was made in just a matter of minutes.  No reinstalling the OS, all your programs and documents - its all there in the restored image.

Re: Complete C drive backup question

I was using Norton Ghost 15 (I still use it occasionally as a "backup backup"). But I'm now using AOMEI Backupper.  https://www.backup-utility.com/ They also have a free and paid version. It's the closest thing to Ghost I've found. It will make a SYSTEM or DISK backup. I've tested a restore to a spare HD(SSD) several times from an external USB drive and from an internal HD and it's worked perfectly. You can google backup programs or look for a review in almost any PC magazine. There are quite a few out there and you may want to try several free versions to see which you like or fits your needs the best.
