I've tried to uninstall and install it again but Norton Security always freezing computer each time I'm doing a scan. Any idea?
How far does the scan get before freezing?
Try disabling Windows Fast Startup feature.
If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here
Freezing scans can also be caused by problems with the hard drive. To check your hard disk, click on the Windows Start button. In the search box type CMD. Right click on cmd.exe and click on run as administrator. In the command prompt type "chkdsk c: /r" without the quotes. A message will come up asking if you want to check the disk on the next restart. Answer 'Y'. Reboot and the check disk will run before Windows starts up. This check will check the file system as well as the physical disk surface. This scan can take a long time, depending on the size of your hard drive.
You could also try disabling scanning of compressed files to see if this helps any.
Thanks for your solutions but I was able to solve it.
HI, castleman. Can you advise how you solved your issue, so that others may benefit in the same situation ? Thanks.
First, I've done an uninstall. After, I've run the install program with "run as administrator". Now scanning is working fine.
Ok, thanks !
Problem is back. I've tried the new beta but the same problem appears so I've switched back to previous version but problem is back. I've done: - a chkdsk (no changes); - disabled the hibernate/sleep mode (no changes)
Hi, castleman, Did you use the same machine to test the beta ?
If so, that may have caused the latest issue.
I'd be inclined to use the Norton Removal Tool, https://www.norton.com/nrt and then after rebooting, download a pre activated version of your Norton product from your Norton account.
After the reinstall, run live Update until no more are found, and then reboot.
