Continual pop ups after Norton installed and scanned

Hi Everyone.

I've purchased and installed Norton with the aim of ridding my PC of dreaded pop ups.

My PC runs Microsoft Vista and when I went to upgrade my internet browser from Explorer to Google Chrome it was infected and subsequently flooded with pop ups.

I've installed Norton to do the job but while it has worked partially I still are experiencing the same pops ups (maybe slightly better than before) but nonetheless making using the internet ineffective. As soon as my switch on and my Internet Service Provider commences operation the Norton reports a lot of suspicious traffic been sent out but it doesn't seem to halt the problem. Pop ups galore.

Very frustrating and any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Regards

Benni

Re: Continual pop ups after Norton installed and scanned

hi Benni

The pop-ups are probably caused by a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) downloaded with Google Chrome, this is a common occurrence. The programs can be difficult to remove, it is suggested that you visit one of the sites listed in the thread linked below:

Choose one of the sites register and post your problem when a trained experienced volunteer will contact you to assit with it's removal.

Which AV program was installed before installing Norton, did you uninstall then run the appropriate removal tool for that program prior to installing Norton? If not it can cause problems with your computer.

Hello Benni20

It is best to go to one of the free malware sites that Michael mentioned to get your computer cleaned up first. This hold true for just about any security program. Norton products will install better on a clean computer. If you have now got your computer clean up, I would recommend that you use the Remove and Reinstall Tool to get a clean install of your program. Please read the warning paragraph first.
