Crashed from Windows 10 Installation

I have tried everything - including using my windows 7 recovery disk.  I just get a blue screen.  I am about ready to re-install Windows 7 but wanted to see if there is a way that I can recover my files on my external hard drive.  Can someone tell me how to do this when you can't log into windows anymore (not even safe mode)?

Re: Crashed from Windows 10 Installation

Hi Deadpool.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.

Sorry about the circumstances.

I am not able to help you as I am staying well away from Windows 10 for the time being.  Also I do not think this is a "Backup" issue as Norton cannot restore files to a system which does not exist.  If you had a disk image [that neither N360 nor NSBU produce] that might help but that is not a subject for this forum.

So I am sorry to say that I think the problem seems to be a Microsoft one.  In this forum (Backup) your problem will get fairly few views, if you could tell us whether you were using N360 or NSBU I could ask to have the thread transferred to the relevant forum where there may be more users with Windows 10 experience.

Sorry I cannot help.

Re: Crashed from Windows 10 Installation

I'm confused with this part:

"wanted to see if there is a way that I can recover my files on my external hard drive"

Your external drive should be unchanged, if you plug it into a working computer they should all be there.

Unless you mean that you want to recover files from the non-working system onto your external drive?  For that you need to either connect the drive to a working system or boot the system with something like a Linux live CD and copy the files from it to the external drive.
