"Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

I have a problem with Norton Safe Web.

One site I regularly visit apparent has a virus problem with one particular file which is hosted there for download.  The name and details for this file and virus are given by Safe Web and noted as being the only problem on the site.

I am prepared to surf this site known this and to do this I must click on the very small "visit this site anyway" link in the full-screen "Dangerous Website Blocked" warning I receive.  The problem is that every time I move from one page to another on this site, the procedure is repeated.  Now the question, is there any way I can mark this site as "safe" and have Norton ignore the problem, without loosing the full functionality of Safe Web?

It appears that this, repeating full-screen message only appears after yesterday's live updates, although the problem has been shown by Safe Web before this.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

Hello dforrest

If this site has a Dangerous Website Blockage notice, the only way to get it removed is to get the owner of the site to clean up the site and then request to have the site retested. I don't see any where in the program where you can list websites to be ignored. Perhaps you can create some rule in your Firewall to allow traffic to that website, but then if you can do this, you are inviting any malware to enter your computer. The best way would be for you to contact the owner of the website to get his site cleaned up.

Thanks.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

This is so stupid!
Norton is blocking me from my own website
There is nothing dangerous about this site, it's a collection of links.
WHY IN HELL CAN'T I TELL NORTON TO NOT BLOCK ME?
Damn!

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

How can you be sure all the links on your site are safe?

In the detailed information, what is shown as the threats?

What is your web site so we can check for you?

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

Hi Rostem,

Kindly request you to follow the site owner verification procedure as instructed in http://safeweb.norton.com/help/site_owners.
Once ownership has been verified, your site will be queued up for rating evaluation.

Never mind.
Registering my website is so convoluted and stupid that my eyes glazed over.
This webpage is for me and me only. Why should I jump through all of your hoops because your analysis is so flawed you can't really tell a dangerous site from a safe one?

So, I have disabled safe search and will find another security firm when my subscription expires.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

I am having the same problem. I telephoned the owner of the web site and they confirmed that everything appears OK from their end; possibly this is something internal to my computer.

The warning page includes a "contact Norton" link which I hesitate to click for obvious reasons.

Hello

If you give me the name of the website, I can ask the Safe Web Team to retest the site.If the website is still malicious, then the owner of the site would have to get it cleaned up.

Thanks.

OK, get ready to tremble, because here is the URL to my allegedly "dangerous" site.
I bet no human from Norton has ever seen it.

The page I use all the time is here

Really dangerous stuff.
I've turned off safe surfing because it's obviously seriously flawed and not to be trusted.
If you can't determine safe sites, I bet you can't determine unsafe ones either.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

About a week ago the 'Dangerous Website Blocked'  appeared on my screen when I clicked on a link in an email that I regularly receive and have never had a problem with before. I am able to get in to the site from my other computers and tablets.  The site is 'groupgolfer.com' and I regularly use the site to purchase rounds of golf.  I am not comfortable clicking on any of the links in the Norton message.  I have sent group golfer an email, but have not heard back from them.  Is there a way you can check the site.

thanks

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

Hello LinMat

According to Google, the site is coming up as a Green OK. First of all, you shouldn't click on links in an email. You should copy the link and then use your browser and  paste the link there and open it.

I would suggest that you run a full system scan with your Norton product. It would also help if you could post a screenshot of what you are seeing.

Please come back and let us know how you made out. We can tell you some more things to help you.

Thanks.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

What is the procedure for getting a website unblocked? Do I open up a new thread or can you check my site from this comment? I just received an email from a Norton Antivirus user saying that for the past few days our site is showing up as a phishing site. I'm not sure if it's a problem with some ad running on our site or what else it could be. I am the CTO for Revolvy, LLC, and I assure you there is nothing malicious on our site. We use mainstream advertisers like DFP, OpenX, Sovrn, etc. I would appreciate help getting this resolved. The website being flagged is http://www.revolvy.com

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

Hello wunderwood

If you click on the little arrow on the report which peterweb posted, you will see which was the troublesome ad.

You will have to sign up with Safe Web and register your website.

Please follow instructions on this site for Safe Web Site problems.

http://safeweb.norton.com/help/site_owners

You will receive an email from them. Please post the html file in your next post. Once I see the html file, I can then get the Safe Web Team to verify ownership. After they do that, I can ask them to re-evaluate your site.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

So we just discovered that our site is being blocked as well. The bad thing is, the report shows 2 "annoyances", not threats on my site. sorry, but annoyances should not get a site blocked... especially when they do not actually exist on the site anymore (and have not for over a year). Norton should really be auto-re-scanning sites at least once every 3 months if they intend on blocking sites on client computers. Not doing so is very irresponsible.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

Hello,

I just started getting the "Dangerous Website Blocked" on the site I use to work remotely. It is my employer's (software company) site which safe. I have been logging onto the site for 7 years, almost daily. Starting Oct 12, 2017, it is flagged as dangerous. Selecting "Continue to this site anyway" just takes me to the Norton app and I am never re-routed to the site I am trying to access. Please HELP as I cannot work remote with this issue.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

Same problem as previous posters with my e-mail. I'm pretty darned sure that "Webmail.west.cox.net/do/redirect" is NOT a "malicious website". The problem appeared suddenly and simultaneously on 3 different devices (a mac, a PC, & an android). No files have been shared between these devices, no same e-mail was opened on all 3. They weren't on the same router, weren't in the same location, and the mac had been unused for about a month (though Norton would have updated itself when I turned it on, thus .

The ONLY things the devices have in common is Norton and me signing in to Cox.net. The warnings are variable -- sometimes they appear when I first sign into the webmail, sometimes they only appear when I try to open an e-mail.

I've had to ignore the warnings, but I'd rather the issue get fixed. I believe Norton CAN be a useful security tool, thus I would like to use it, but right now it's broke.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

Hello Deanna

Have you checked with Cox West if they are having any issues? When it comes to email sites, Norton often acts as the messenger for email company. Norton cannot scan Webmail. The only thing they can attempt to do is to sign you into your account with the Identity Manager.

https://idm.east.cox.net/coxlogin/ui/webmail?autherror=3&flr=0

You can try changing your password for the account. Did you get any code messages or code numbers? Can you post a screenshot please?

Here are the instructions on how to add a image to your post.

Re: "Dangerous Website Blocked" Problem

Hi Floplot,

The code fairies seem to have done their job, and the problem seems to have been resolved at a "higher" level. The android worked correctly as of 2 days ago (I did no virus scans),  the re-directs within the e-mail are working correctly as of this morning (again, I did nothing last night) . I'm sure we are all relieved that according to Norton "community.norton" is no longer a Known Fraudulent Site....; )
