I doubt their server was running a home security product. Chances are the server wasn't even running windows (some Linux flavor). Correct me if you find more direct information.

Re: Did EQUIFAX have NORTON SECURITY INSTALLED???

The hackers exploited a known vulnerability in the Apache software used on the Equifax web servers, which the company had not yet patched.  It remains to be seen if Equifax was late in applying patches or if the hackers simply got in before the patch was available.

It doesn't really matter what other security measures were in place.  Once a vulnerability is successfully exploited, it is almost always "game over."

Its been seen already that Equifax waited 2 months before patching. Why? No one knows quite yet. Very unusual for a business to wait this long. Perhaps a few days or up to a week, but not 2 mths

Yes, we know when Equifax applied the patch.  And we know when the breach was discovered.  But we don't know when the breach actually occurred - it may have been earlier, when the vulnerability was still a zero-day.  Still, waiting two months was inexcusable.
