Different Norton versions for different Windows computers.

My  Win 8.1  computer is running Norton Security Premium  version 22.17.1.50  and  my Win 7  computer  is running the  same Norton Security Premium but  version 27.17.2.46, so I called Norton on 02076165600  and  spoke to the Philippines   and  was told by  and advisor  and a supervisor that  this is Normal as different  OS run different  versions, Neither of them gave a plausible reason for this   and I had to  accept what  they  said as both said that  is  just  how  it  is,

Is  what  they  said  correct  ?

Re: Different Norton versions for different Windows computers.

I don't know where you got that number, but that information is not correct.  The latest version of Norton compatible with Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and above is Norton Security 22.17.2.46.

Should you need to contact Norton it is best to use this link  -  http://www.norton.com/chat

No.  Or did I miss your other question?

If you check my link above you will see that the update is released in a phased manner, so it may be that initially different machines will be running different versions, but once Symantec are sure the update is successful it will be pushed out to all compatible machines eventually.

2. When will I receive the patch?

As is our standard practice, we are deploying the patch in a phased manner. We have released the patch to randomly selected customers, and will then monitor our telemetry, as well as this forum, for any problems or issues. Once we have confirmed the effectiveness of the patch, we will make it available to all customers. We will post an update on the Norton Community Forums when we make the patch available to all customers.

I hope that helps, but if not post back and we'll try again.

@bjm_,

Ah, OK.  In Australia there is an area code for NSW starting with 02.  That number looks legit for the UK.  Thanks.

Re: Different Norton versions for different Windows computers.

Thanks Krusty , you  answered  my one  question. As I  suspected, they  were  charlatans; I  will stick to  Live Chat in future.

I  ran Live Update (~355MB)  closed my  browser as  directed and applied the  patch, so now have version 22.17.2.46 on my Win 8.1  computer.
