Difficulties in using ID Safe entries

Hi all,

Frustrating though it is, I understand the importance of getting the ID Safe feature safe and secure before updating to FF v.43 compatibility.  It wouldn't be too painful, if I could use the temporary arrangement as I understand it should work.  I hope you're still with me.

When I open up the ID Safe log in and log in, I get the list of log ins.  I understand that I should then be able to click on the arrow at the right hand side to bring up the relevant web page and auto-fill the log in and password.  When I try this, I get the right page, but it just sits there, empty, and I have to input login and password manually.

Have I got it wrong, or is there some setting I've got to change to get this to work?

Thanks,

Ian

You got it half wrong. The vault won't auto-fill in anything with FF 43. You have to open the vault and then copy and past the Login and Password from the vault to the web site.

Thanks Phoneman,

You're half right, too.  The copy to clipboard option is the only way I can copy anything off the ID safe list and it's only the password that's copied.  Still, it's a bit quicker than the method I've been using, so thanks.  We can call this solved.

Re: Difficulties in using ID Safe entries

Prior to this New And Great release Identity Safe did auto fill both ID and PW, and you had the option for each web site to auto fill or not auto fill.  I do not consider this current state an advancement for Norton.  As to half right - WRONG answer.  This is not user friendly, but customer surly.  This after waiting Norton to fix identity safe so it would work with FireFox.  Has Norton considered having a user group review their planned changes to do a sanity check.  When my current license  expires I will be looking for a new security manager.  I have been in IT for over 48 years, yes I go back to punch cards and octal machines with vacuum tubes, and as a former  CIO of 3 fortune 500 companies we dropped Norton long ago.  So why do I have Norton now, I thought that identity safe had become more robust.  Wrong Answer.

...Just a personal observation...

I cannot understand the number of users posting here that they are going to dump Norton because one feature does not work. I could see if the virus detection features stopped working, but because the password manager is causing issues? There are many other password managers that will work with Norton still providing the security protection.

I purchase my Norton product for the malware protection and firewall features. All other feature bloat  add ons are just a bonus.

[end rant]

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Difficulties in using ID Safe entries

I run Firefox 52.0.2 and Edge (Creators Update W10) and they both have the new vault extension that works great. There is an option for Auto-Fill.

I have a Local Vault and exported to a DAT file and used it to Import to a new Cloud Vault which I use with Firefox and Edge.

It does need improvement like Tags on the Browser and hope we get that in the future.

Also you can go through the Norton UI and open the vault there and can do all the editing like the old system. I was surprised when I imported the DAT file it retains all my tags and when I sign in through the GUI it looks and acts the same as the original vault. So all the features are still there.
