Aarthy: Are you chatting with me from the computer that has the issue?
Evan Hillman: yes
Aarthy: May I know the pop up that you are getting exactly ?
Evan Hillman: it wants me to install some of the Norton crapware on my browser. Frequently. Very. Frequently. Very.
Aarthy: Are you referring to Norton Extensions?
Evan Hillman: if that is what norton extentions does, then yes.
Aarthy: I would like to inform you that Norton Extension are used to ensure Browser Security.
Evan Hillman: And your point is.....?
Evan Hillman: i'm not asking what you think it does. I want to end the popups.
Aarthy: For safer browser experience, Norton displays alerts to install the Norton extensions for the supported browsers after you install Norton. If you do not want to install the Norton extensions, ignore the alerts.
Evan Hillman: I am not asking if I can ignore the alerts. I'm asking to make them stop.
Aarthy: If you wish to disable is permanently, we have to install the extensions from the product once and then disable it .
Evan Hillman: The point is to not install it.
Aarthy: Evan, I really understand that you wish to stop getting the pop ups to install Norton Extensions in your Browser.
Evan Hillman: YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aarthy: Browser Protection is an inbuilt feature of Norton and it has a separate tab called "Internet Security"
Evan Hillman: Why doesn't the "don't ask again" selection stop it from asking again?
Evan Hillman: I have no idea why what you just told me is relevent.
Aarthy: If you do not want to install the Norton extensions, you can either ignore the alerts. Else,we have to install once and disable it to avoid the pop up permanently.
Evan Hillman: I don't care if it is a separate tab or not.
Evan Hillman: Why do I have to install it? I want to select "don't install it" and be done with it.
Evan Hillman: Send me the source code for the extension. I will look it over and decide if I trust it enough to allow it to run on my computer.
Aarthy: This is due to the product design change.
Evan Hillman: Then change it back! Not that difficult. I have rolled back changes in my career.
Aarthy: I am really sorry for the inconvenience that caused. I will forward the feedback to the concern team and find the alternatives in future.
Evan Hillman: What you are describing is called "ransomware." Look it up.
Aarthy: No Evan. Norton offers three Extension called Norton Safe Web, Norton Safe Search and Norton Password Manager.
Aarthy: Norton Safe Web is a secure search that helps you to surf, search, and shop safely online. It analyzes websites that you visit and detects if there are any viruses, spyware, malware, or other threats.
Evan Hillman: If the software is only of benefit to me, Norton would not care if I install it or not. If Norton tries to frighten me into installing it, they have an agenda they are not sharing. "Ransomware."
Evan Hillman: I actually have no way to verify what you are saying about the product is true. That is why I don't want to install it in the first place.
Aarthy: You can visit https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v117744069_ns_retail_en_us to know more about the Norton Extensions.

Aarthy: You can visit the above link to know about Norton Extensions.

Aarthy: The above three links has the detailed description about the extensions and its working.
Evan Hillman: start my free trial on salesforce?
Evan Hillman: That ins't reassuring, either.
Evan Hillman: Sales information isn't engineering information. I'm not interested in marketing buzzwords.
Aarthy: Please click on https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v19116982 and know the details.
Aarthy: Evan, I will explain you in clearly.
Aarthy: Norton Safe Search is Norton's secure search engine that protects users from visiting phishing and other risky sites that may appear in search results. It uses Norton's Safe Web technology, which rates websites according to their safety. Norton Safe Search is included in Norton's security products offered online or in retail. You can also use it by visiting search.norton.com.
Evan Hillman: None of this explains why selecting "don't ask me again" doesn't work, or why the company is pushing these extensions so hard.
Aarthy: Due to product design change, you cannot avoid the installation processing without trying it once.
Aarthy: As a basic step, we have to install any one of the Norton Extensions and disable it again to avoid the pop up.
Evan Hillman: I'm perfectly happy with how I am doing my searches now. I see no information saying that the search engine doesn't bias the results to line the pockets of Norton.
Evan Hillman: Having to install something to disable it isn't ok. We are back to ransom.
Evan Hillman: "If you want me to stop making your life more difficult, you will have to do what I want" isn't kindness. Please explain why they made the decision that you have to install it to not use it. Insane logic IMO.
System: Your agent has been disconnected from the system, you are now being transferred to your original queue. Please stand by...
