Re: Double Patch

We are pleased to announce that a Windows 10 RedStone (RS5) compatibility update is now available for Norton Products, updating the version to 22.15.0.88 This update is available via LiveUpdate for Norton 22.14.x, and will be automatically downloaded and installed.

As with our previous updates, this version is being released in a phased manner. This update is available in all supported languages. To download it, simply run LiveUpdate.

This patch is only available via LiveUpdate, and is being released in a phased manner. You may need to run LiveUpdate and reboot a few times before your product is completely updated to the latest version.

Re: Double Patch

Interesting, but it doesn't say anything about running live update manually twice to obtain the second patch.

Here's some additional information gleaned from what I saw performing the updates on my four PCs (3 Windows 10/64 Home, 1 Windows 10/64 Pro).

On all 4 PCs immediately after the first patch completed Norton Security wanted me to "fix" the advanced Sonar Protection (on two PCs the fix failed). On one machine I tried running live update before completing the "Fix" attempt and no 2nd patch appeared.

After completing the "Fix" attempt I reran live update and the second patch appeared. After it ran on the two PCs that failed to fix the Sonar protection all the issues with NS disappeared.

Re: Double Patch

All 4 machines downloaded and installed 2 separate patches. The 2nd patch did not appear until the first patch was complete and the "Fix" for Sonar had been run (whether it succeeded or not). If not for the fact that two of the PC failed to "fix" the post 1st patch Sonar issue it would have been possible for someone not even realize there was a 2nd patch that needed installed. As I mentioned in my previous post the announcement says nothing about the patch being done in 2 phases and requiring multiple manual running of the live update feature (I always run live update till it says it's done but I'm betting there are lots of people who don't).

In my mind.....your observation is addressed by:

I'm accustomed to phased updates and need for LU runs (over time) to completely pull "update" parts + need for machine Restart(s) (not Shut down).
Just me.  Just saying.

Re: Double Patch

Hello

Just about every new version has 1 patch that needs to be applied after all the files for the new version have been downloaded and installed or it mentions that there is 1 patch which needs to be applied. That patch I know has to do with FF which I get even though I don't use FF. I have no idea what the 2nd patch was for.

I believe there is some confusion here with the new version update being referred as a new patch. The new version update is not the patch which sewing1243 is referring to. He is referring to 2 files at the end of the new version update which are named
" patch" and are required to be applied. This is the first time that there were 2 such patches that had to be applied at that time or later.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.17.3.50 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.
