Re: emails not recieving

Before installing Norton, did you uninstall AVG using their removal utility from here?.... https://www.avg.com/en-us/avg-remover

Have you run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available?

If you use Windows 10, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.

Re: emails not recieving

I did not run that program before I un-installed   I used the add/remove in control panel    I have live update set to automatic so that should not be the issue

Re: emails not recieving

If you are still having difficulties, you might want to try running the AVG removal tool. It does a more thorough job of removing remnants left behind than just uninstalling from control panel. These remnants may cause strange behaviour with a new AV product.

I have live update set to automatic so that should not be the issue

But did you run it a few times after installing Norton?

Have you checked for the Fast Startup feature in Win 10? If it is enabled and you use the Shutdown command at night, and then start up the computer again in the morning, you would not get a complete cold restart of the system that is required to fully update software, including Norton.

How do you read your email? Via your email provider's web site or using an email program like Outlook or Thunderbird?

Re: emails not recieving

cm0918. Norton's anti-spam feature is not presently supported with the Windows 10 mail app, please review this article.  Although that feature of Norton AV doesn't work with W10 mail, Norton could be the issue. Conversely  this Microsoft article gives some tips regarding things you can do to try to correct the issue. Please let us know if any of these suggestions helped.

It is recommended to disable the Fast Startup feature. From what you describe, with Fast Startup enabled, you would not be getting a full system shutdown required to fully update Norton. If you do not want to do this, at least use the Windows Restart option. That will get you a full shutdown and will let us know if that fixes your issue.

Re: emails not recieving

Have you disabled Norton Email Scanning to see if that is the cause of the issue?  What is the error you are getting?

Re: emails not recieving

cm0918. Wondering, if your laptop has TPM (Trusted Platform Module) installed. There are reports within the Microsoft community of authentication errors due to corrupted TPM files. Although the error in the article isn't what you are seeing as far as we know, it may be related. Removing TPM if you are not using it and rebooting may be a possible solution. TPM has had issues with Windows 10 since its initial release.

Re: emails not recieving

cm0918, what, if any, of all the suggestions given thus far, have you performed? The error code you last posted is not listed on the Window mail and Windows Live Mail common error code list here from Microsoft. Please post a screenshot directly into your next post for us to see and review, it would be of great help. Here is how to post screenshots.

Re: emails not recieving

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

Edited: Right click on your Norton icon in the system tray, select "Disable Smart Firewall". Just select 15 minutes and press ok. Retry your connection and synching. If that provides no solution go ahead and disable "fast startup" in your power settings within Windows 10. Reboot the system and recheck. See if things change for us.

still getting same error with steps above done

Re: emails not recieving

Since you have reset your Norton Firewall and nothing changed, the Windows Defender Firewall has to be blocking things. This shouldn't be the case since Norton will take over those functions on Windows 10, Windows Defender should be basically disabled except for Windows Defender Firewall which must and does remain active due to Windows Updates requiring it to function. Try this possible solution.

If none of these corrects the issue, download and run the Norton Removal Tool. Scroll down in the article and follow the instructions for "Remove Norton". You want to perform a REMOVE ONLY and reboot once its done.

Edited: Before reinstalling Norton check your mail to see whether it now functions. This will tell us if your Norton install was corrupted.

When done and you have rebooted, log into your Norton account, download a fresh copy of your product from there. When installation has completed, manually run live update to get any needed updates. Re-run live update until no updates are available, reboot a second time. Once rebooted, run live updates again until no updates are available. Re-check to see if the issue is resolved. Let us know your results.

Re: emails not recieving

I think its more of a yahoo mail issue with the windows mail then the windows mail app it self if that makes sense as I can put in my gmail and it works like it should but I still get that sync error with yahoomail

Re: emails not recieving

When Verizon moved its email infrastructure onto AOL and went under OATH it was a nightmare getting things to work on all our mobile devices. Outlook was the same. I believe Yahoo falls under OATH as well. Give them a shout at this link, see if they have anything to share that would be of help.

Re: emails not recieving

You started having trouble with Yahoo mail at the same time you changed from AVG to Norton. Two different, unrelated instances.
