exact process when changing from Norton 360 to Norton Security

Just as the title says, what is the exact process when changing from Norton 360 to Norton Security?  Complete uninstall and run Norton Removal Tool before installing Norton Security?  Will simply leaving N360 in place and installing Norton Security over-the-top be just as well?  (The affected computers are two for Vista and one for Windows 10).

Re: exact process when changing from Norton 360 to Norton Security

Hi g_cafe_c,

What I usually recommend in this situation is "over the top install of NS" - but only if you are not experiencing any problems with the current install of N 360.

If you are experiencing problems with the current install - then I would suggest an uninstall of N 360, run the NRT and then install NS would be the way to go.

I'm sure others will also have opinions/comments.

Yank can confirm if this is correct ... or  ...

If you use On Line free storage that came with N360 then to retain that facility you need to buy the Norton Security Premium version (10 devices -- previously labeled Norton Security with BackUp) and not the lesser versions.

If you don't need the OnLine Storage then the lesser versions -- Premium = 5 devices or Standard = 1 Device -- will do the same job of renewing/reactivating/replacing N360

Note also that the number of devices can be different in different markets outside the USA/Canada.

So far, no trouble with the currently installed Norton 360's.  The intent will be for when current subscriptions end, or if putting N.S. onto any new computer.

A more careful search in the forums would have shown this earlier answer which yank (member) also gave:

Just search was not done back far enough in time.

Even so after 14 months it's wise to check again especially since names of the products changed and even more important we now know that the new keys are more flexible in what they will do than was the case back then .....
