Fails to Upgrade/Install on Windows 10

Just as others, I too am having trouble with installing and getting NS to run on my laptop. I am using my Toshiba Satellite if that is of any use of information. I upgraded from Windows 8.1 just the other day just to find that Norton hadn't been recovered a my other apps have. So I go on the website, sign in and boom! Right there in front of me it says that my product key was expired and everything. I click to install and it's been saying upgrading ever since. I go into support and use the removal tool as instructed and when I get back on to reinstall it it gets stuck at the "starting" point and stays that way endlessly until I try to exit out of the window which in turn prompts me that it had stopped working and automatically windows starts checking for a solution. So, I haven't really had a specific error message like others have but the program is certainly not upgrading on my account and is not installing on my PC.

Re: Fails to Upgrade/Install on Windows 10

hi Pitagotnobread

I think the first thing to do is to sort out the subscription problem, Windows Defender/Firewall will protect you for the time being.

if you sign in to your Norton Account, you can sign in from the link below:

https://manage.norton.com/?displang=eng&displocale=USA

Click on Services. What does it say here about your Norton Product and Subscription?

Whilst there click on the Bin next to your device where Norton was installed it will free up a seat for you to download Norton to install.

Then click on Download where a new Window will open where you can Download/Install on the devices you are using.

Should there be a problem with your subscription you will need to have a chat with Support you can do this through the link below:

Hi @pitagotnobread,

Thanks for reporting this issue.

which in turn prompts me that it had stopped working and automatically windows starts checking for a solution.

Could you share a screenshot of the product when it says it stopped working? and any other screenshot or messages that you think will help us.

Re: Fails to Upgrade/Install on Windows 10

I am having the same issue.  I am currently on my 4th attempt at installing Norton Security.  The installation window is still open, and I just finished the "Installing" part.  The progress meter at the bottom of the window filled up, and now I am sitting on the "Starting..." screen.  It eventually hangs up and I have to close out of the Installation window.  Not sure if there was a resolution to this yet or not.  Thanks in Advance.  -Greg

The same here. After in-place upgrading to Win10 32-bit Norton Security application disappeared altogether. All attempts to install fresh copy of NS failed during the last quarter (based on the indicator) of the installation. Windows prompts me that it setup stopped working and automatically starts checking for a solution.

Re: Fails to Upgrade/Install on Windows 10

Installation finally went through! When I almost gave up and  was settle to restore WIN7, I checked e-mail and found message from Norton with congratulation for the creation of the new account and request for the confirmation. Such request was not expected because I was using my existing active subscription for the installation! Nevertheless I confirmed and decided to give another try. It was successful! I cannot re-create scenario, but it looks like a possible cause of the failures of the previous installations. They might just timed out waiting for some bits of the information from the Norton, which were not available until installation was validated.
