Firefox 42 - Toolbar Fix Update Not Worked ?

On my Windows 7x64 Machine still not back to having patched - limited functionality - Toolbar.

Have Firefox 42 and NIS 22.5.5.14.

Firefox simply states - Norton Toolbar 2015.5.4.10 (disabled) - last update Nov 8.

After spotting this - I have re-installed NIS ( using removal tool and re-downloading ) and ran live update - and even saw message that newer toolbar patch downloaded.

I have rebooted and ran live update several times since - but remains blocked.

On another (Win10) machine - again Firefox 42 - it shows Identity Safe 2015.5.6.76 - with "Proceed With Caution" warning - but at least gives me limited toolbar and safe site browser searching.

I use the same Forefox add-ons on both machines ( No Script, AD-Block etc )

How can I get limited toolbar (is this Identity Safe or Toolbar - the distinction is losing me a little) on my Win 7 machine.

Regards

G

Re: Firefox 42 - Toolbar Fix Update Not Worked ?

I've read reports that NoScript and / or Private Window degrade limited Toolbar/Identity Safe.

Firefox (at this time) has one Norton extension labeled Norton Identity Safe v2015.5.6.78

Is Norton Identity Safe Disabled...?  please Enable or show Toolbar by right click near address bar and check.

Maybe, you updated Firefox before Norton....?

Have only the standard toolbars available in Firefox - no option to enable Norton in toolbar menu

It is possible that had Firefox 42 on this machine before toolbar - not sure.

g.m.:

Have only the standard toolbars available in Firefox - no option to enable Norton in toolbar menu

...and with Add-ons > Extensions...?

bjm_ - thanks for taking the time to reply.

Following your query re-order of Firefox 42 / toolbar update  - I had another go at doing Firefox - but this time thoroughly deleting it.

This time when de-installing Firefox - I went through and removed all add-ons, deleted my profile / caches in %appdata% - local and roaming Mozilla directories - and then uninstalled Firefox 42.  ( Sure Firefox uninstall used to do this - or at least ask when uninstalled )

I then rebooted PC, ran Norton Live-update ( nothing about toolbar - only regular definitions ) and then re-booted PC, and re-installed Firefox 42.0.

Was now able to select Norton toolbar - and safe search and site advisory on google searches working again - what I wanted for now.

Then went back to install my 6 additional add-ons - and all seemed fine - until got to NoScript (2.6.9.39) - left this to end - as others had reported a possible issue.

This then disabled the safesearch "search" box / button - but like others have reported - this comes back if open a second instance of Firefox.

Therefore another vote for Noscript interfering.   ( incidently - it also reports errors for some activities on this forum ).

Guess will now wait for Norton to get vault working - although I am alarmed that they are suggesting months - not weeks  - to fix.

Thanks again for the help.

FWIW ~ I'm not favorable to Toolbars.   I've enlisted alternate extensions.

Will close - as my specific issue ( not actaully getting to the new Identity safe version is resolved ) and suspect it is not really upto Symantec to resolve noscript issue.

I at least at the same level as other people commenting.
