FIREWALL?

I'm not sure if this is a firewall problem or even a Norton problem, but I can't find any other answers to this issue. It's about email, there are some promotional emails I was regularly that have stopped. I've checked with the websites and am still signed up to receive them and I've checked my spam and junk mail folders and they aren't going there. I tried using my alternate email address and they won't go there either so I'm pretty sure it's not my email provider. Could my Norton be blocking them? I just recently renewed my Norton account and it seems like I noticed I wasn't getting them around that time frame, although I can't be certain. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Re: FIREWALL?

Hello Joyce

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum

Have there been any error messages? Is there anything in the Log History in the Email section that would indicate that it could be Norton? Have you checked with your ISP? Norton wouldn't block emails unless they contained malware. If Norton did such a thing, there would be some indication from Norton that they have done it. Thanks.

Re: FIREWALL?

The first thing would be. Do you use Microsoft Outlook or a web browser to check your email? If you use Microsoft Outlook it's possible that Norton might block the email or send it to a spam folder. If you use a web browser then it's not Norton. If you use any other email client outside of Microsoft Outlook it won't be Norton causing the problem either.

I did't find any error messages and there is nothing in the Log History in the Email section. I'm not sure how to check with my ISP?

Re: FIREWALL?

I have an Outlook email account, but I don't really use it. The missing email should have gone to a Yahoo account. I had at one point changed my email address to Outlook at one of the sites I'm missing mail from to see if it would go there but it didn't so I changed the setting back to the Yahoo account. I also switched to using Chrome a couple of weeks ago and just this evening created a gmail account to see if I can get these particular emails there.

Re: FIREWALL?

I meant Microsoft Outlook that comes with Microsoft Office.

Since it sounds like you're using a web browser to access your emails. I'd check with the site you're receiving the emails from. I don't think an ISP can block email from Yahoo! or any other free email service.

Re: FIREWALL?

I have checked with the website. I have checked my account and my preferences are set up correctly to receive email from them and they even double checked and confirmed this for me. They don't know why I am not getting the email. If I place an order with them I do get the confirmation emails. I stopped getting promotional email from more than one site. It's really confusing and frustrating that I cannot figure out how to fix this.

Re: FIREWALL?

Hello Joyce

If it is emails that would be sent out to a lot of users, it's possible it might have been blocked because too many emails were sent out at once. I would check with the company who sent out the emails. Sign up again with them to receive email if it is that type of email that is missing. I find that I have to do that every so often. It's like I have fallen off the mailing list some how. Thanks.

Re: FIREWALL?

Well, I've done that too. I've gone as far a cancelling my account and opening a new one, I've used different email address and nothing is coming through. I feel this has to have something to do with my computer not letting them come through, I just don't know where the blockage is. It's probably not Norton. I appreciate everyone's advice. Thanks

Re: FIREWALL?

To rule out your computer and Norton. Is it possible to check your email from a different computer or phone?

Also have you added the email address with the promotions to your address book in whichever email service you use? Some services like Outlook (formerly Hotmail, Live) offer a safe sender list. Which is where you might want to add this promotional email address to.
