Firewall failure reported

I am running NS 22.5.0.124 on Win7 Professional.

Windows Action Center notifier shows an alert for "Windows Firewall (Important)." The text of the alert reads:

"Windows Firewall and Norton Security both report that they are turned off."

If I click "View firewall options" and choose "Turn on Norton Security," the alert remains. NS reports: "You are protected."

I can clear the alert if I logout and restart, but the alert returns within 20-30 minutes.

Thoughts?

Re: Firewall failure reported

As the result of a previous (since pulled) Liveupdate product upgrade, I experienced the exact flip of this, with Windows Action Center alerting and reporting that both were enabled...

I was able to correct the condition by using the NRT...

https://www.norton.com/nrt

After the system rebooted, I followed the instructions webpage (invoked by the NRT, post-reboot) to download and install a fresh, current copy of my product (in my case, NSwB) from the Norton Management website.

Curious, did you try re-register WMI..?  I've used this fwiw Permalink before.

Hi bjm_,

Yes - WMI re-reg was tried, as too were other "usual remedial measures" ... but the ultimate fix was accomplished via the NRT followed by a freshly downloaded install.

But remember too, that in my case, they were both being reported as being enabled - and as best as I could tell, this was actually the case and the Action Center was rightfully and correctly reporting the fact.

Cheers!
