full system scan keeps getting error last 2 scheduled scans

I do a scheduled full system scan every Saturday. For the last 2 weeks iIget an error message and the scan can't be completed. After rebooting my computer, I try to do a manual full system scan and it works. Why isn't a scheduled full system scan no longer working?

Holly

Ps I have a feeling it's relate to an update as tis has never happened before.

Re: full system scan keeps getting error last 2 scheduled scans

Hi Holly,

The obvious question is what exactly does the error message say?

Can you tell what is being scanned at the time the error message appears?

Do you have any other task scheduled to be accomplished during the Full System Scan? Please see Settings > Task Scheduling > Automatic Tasks  and tell us what is check marked .  Read the info under the tabs on that page as to what is not done in the manual scan.  The point I am trying to make is that it may be one of the tasks that are check marked stopping the scan.

Let us know what you find out.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier but I was waiting to try again today, and the full scan worked. The error message I got 2 previous times had no number or explanation. But anyway it's now working again,  and I made no changes when it didn't finish because of an error and no change today.

PS: I'm planning on ditching this old Vista Home Premium  computer and getting a new one so this won't happen again on this computer.

Thanks for your response Holly!

Glad everything is working again.  Sometimes something as simple as a reboot will fix things in Vista.  I know, I am still using an almost 8 year old Vista laptop!
