Full System Scan scanning a lot less files

So the Full System Scan seems to completely ignore about half of the files on my PC. I have cleared the file IDs in hope that it would scan all of them again but to no avail.

I've ran liveupdate and that did not seem to fix it. Not sure what is causing this and if there's a need to worry.

Everything is up-to-date. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Full System Scan scanning a lot less files

If I remember correctly once the first scan or an insight scan is run Norton will then ignore those files which it has marked as safe/trusted.

Re: Full System Scan scanning a lot less files

I see. Isn't there a way to force it to scan everything all over again? It would make me feel safer.

Just seems a bit weird that it would ignore almost 250 thousand files.

Edit: Seems like I've created two similiar posts by accident. Any way to remove the other one or can that only be done by a moderator?

Re: Full System Scan scanning a lot less files

I have Norton Security and this is where I go on this version.

open Norton's Settings

Click green down arrow

Click scans

Click Custom Scan

then click GO

on this window, look about 2/3rds down the page,it says "to create a new scan, Click create scan" Click it.

This next window lets you input your own criteria. After that, click next, next, save. Don't forget to give it a name you will remember.

Good luck, I hope this helped.
