Giving away computer with Norton Security

I have a close friend who I'm giving a surplus computer of mine too. It currently has Norton Security installed with one of my 5 licenses. I have purchased a new Norton 5 user license which I intend to use next month when my existing Norton expires. At that time my friend intends to use a new single device license they have purchased to renew Norton on the computer I've given them. Are there going to be any problems with doing this? I'd like the Norton I've given them transferred to their Norton account when they enter their new license key. Will that happen?

Thanks, Mike.

Re: Giving away computer with Norton Security

If they are going to use a new purchase of their own, they will need to set up their own Norton Account so they can manage their own subscription.

If you want to continue to allow them one of your activations, the best way to do that would be to contact Norton Support via chat and ask them to add your new key to the old subscription. That way your friend's system will be updated without your having to intervene on their system.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Giving away computer with Norton Security

Thanks for the reply peterweb. My friend does have their own Norton account because they have another computer of theirs which has Norton Security, single license installed on it. Down the road when my license expires on the computer I'm giving them they want to use a new single license they have purchased. They'd rather not uninstall the Norton currently on it, however, I'm not sure how the new license gets attached to their account since the install was done originally from my account?

Re: Giving away computer with Norton Security

At the time they wish to switch to their own subscription, they should contact Norton Support to ensure the switch goes smoothly.

I might also suggest that instead of 2 separate single licence products, it might be cheaper to purchase the Norton Security Deluxe to cover the two computers. And then they could also cover any mobile devices they may have. Again contacting Support, they may be able to arrange an upgrade from the second single license version to the Deluxe.
