Gmail logins

Hi all,

As I started typing the header for this post, I got the usual list of possible threads.  Here's one I looked at.

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Identity-Safe-and-GMAIL/m-p/206307#M102752

I have a similar problem that's not resolved.  I, too, have two Gmail accounts.  I have a bookmark that takes me to the login screen, which offers me the two accounts (see photo).  The first one I set up works fine when I select it, ie the password works.  However, if I log out of that one and get back to the login page and select the other one, I get an error message in the password box.

If I check the ID Safe settings for that Gmail address, the password's correct.  If I click on either ID in the ID Safe box, Gmail loads up but in a very primitive format.

Is it a Gmail issue or something I'm doing wrong in ID Safe?  Both are set to Auto-fill and Auto-submit.

Re: Gmail logins

Hi, iancol.  Not sure if this is any help, but it's possible the second account may not be set up properly.

Maybe you can re-create it ?

Re: Gmail logins

Thanks, F4E.  I'm sure it was OK to start with, but I've deleted the account and opened it again using the Google process.  Guess what, though - I can't check if it's working because I'm waiting for Norton to catch up with FF V. 27.0.1!

Wait, though - I still have V.27.0 on the laptop (thanks heavens for the "ask me" option!).  I fired it up, ignored the V.27.0.1 prompts, deleted the second account and went through the process of adding an account.  When I did this, the boxes were "oranged out" with the main address and password.  I overwrote them with the new address and password, signed on and off to get the two-address menu as above.  Clicked on the main address - password correct. Closed it and clicked on the second address - password fail.

Thinking I may have missed a prompt to update the ID Safe record, I went through the process again, with the same result.  When I over-wrote the main address username and password, there was no prompt to update ID Safe.  When I input the correct password after the fail, no prompt by ID Safe to update.

I looked at th ID Safe list and noted that the passwords were there and correct, but that only the main address had the Google icon against it.  I clicked on the second address and logged on via the ID Safe page.  It worked and the format was correct.

I logged off, logged in again and the password worked.  I logged out, tried to log in to the main address and, gues what, the password didn't work!  At this point, I gave up.  I didn't check, but I'd like to bet that the Google Icon has been transferred to the second address.

Help!

Re: Gmail logins

Hmmm. Iancol, what Norton product are you using ? Is your Identity Safe in the toolbar, or is it the standalone version ?

I'm no expert as I don't use Identity Safe, and I only have GMail because I have an Android account.

In these days of 2 stage verification etc,  maybe someone else can offer some advice ?

Re: Gmail logins

Hi F4E,

I'm using Norton 360 Premier Edition and the ID Safe is on the toolbar.  Here's what it looks like in the ID Safe list.

Ian

PS - I could use a result on this - I've had a nightmare time trying to get past the FF 27.0.1 update/toolbar conflict.!

Re: Gmail logins

This is what I  get when I try to log into Gmail, where I have multiple accounts.

To make sure you get the prompts for the multiple logins, check this setting in ID Safe.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Gmail logins

Hi, Peter,

Checked your suggestion and it works, if a little clumsily.

Many thanks,

Ian

Re: Gmail logins

Glad I could help.

Unfortunately, some features could use a little tweaking for useability. You could aways check through the Product Suggestions board here  http://community.norton.com/t5/Product-Suggestions/bd-p/Suggestions , or add your own suggestions.

Re: Gmail logins

I have tried all of the above and can say that it is clunky. :)

I used to go to GMAIL and then get a list of our 6 GMAIL Accounts from IDSafe. Now I get a screen in the brouser from gmail accounts and when I click it does not like my passwords. If I select add an account, the ID Safe list comes up and it WILL log me into any of the 6 accounts. I KNOW this used to work.

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!

Re: Gmail logins

I agree with you, MPSAN, too clunky.  Fortunately, I have just two accounts and the password's correct for one of them, so I just overtype the offered password when I switch to the second account.  A mess, but workable.

What does bother me is that it used to work and I can not tell if it is GMAIL or ID Safe!
