"Go Cloud" Window

As noted in another tread I have successfully upgraded to NIS 21 and continued to use my local vault.

My question now is, must I always receive the window "Go Cloud" asking me to check a button to continue to use my local vault or to "go cloud"?  One day I am sure I will click in the wrong button!

LOL - please take no offense dforrest - I am laughing because I have laready done that - of course I did it on purpose to see what would happen.  It does in fact wipe out your Local Vault and I just finished uninstalling NIS v21, rebooting, running the NRT, rebooting and reinstalling NIS 2012, Importing my Log-ins and then doing the "over the top upgrade" to NIS v 21.  I now have my Local Vault back with all my Log-ins.  BTW, I had an Online Vault before and was able to log into it as well.  Now I have to select to Keep Both in lieu of Merge.

So even if you do select the wrong button -  it can be fixed and wil be harder to mes up after the fix to do away with the nag screen is applied.

But this can only be done if you have a current backup of your ID Safe data. You do, don't you???

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: "Go Cloud" Window

This appear to have been resolved with an update.

Then the update hasn't been released for Norton 360 yet, I'm still being asked to "Go Cloud".

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

And now I am not so sure.  I was not asked "Go Cloud?" when I logged on early today (there was a different toolbar) but now it is back as it was before.

Re: "Go Cloud" Window

dforrest, this update is still coming for my version of NIS. I still get the option to convert to the Cloud, so beware all ye who click on tabs. Make sure you hit the right one !

Re: "Go Cloud" Window

I see that there was a toolbar update in today's LiveUpdates.  Did this include this "Go Cloud?" problem?

Re: "Go Cloud" Window

To the best of my knowledge NO - it was probably the Norton Toolbar add-ons for FF 24.

Re: "Go Cloud" Window

Hi

Yes.  We have released a patch ("Firefox 24 and Chrome 30 Support for Norton Toolbar")  with addional fixes( to solve some auto fill issue and bing annotation issue )

As I said earlier, next major product update (with version change)  will have "Go to Cloud nag removal" fix.

Thanks,

Senthil.

Hi Senthil,

Thanks for that information - it sure would be nice if Mohan, Tony or Tim (whoever makes the announcements in regards to the FF 24 and Chrome 30 update) to include the additional info as to what else was included with the NTB Add-ons, so we do not have to continue to guess which "going to be updated items"  were included.    I'm not suggesting anything as in -depth as with the version upgrade announcements, but the basic info - such as you did.  That way we know when the situaton has been corrected - or if in fact the correction does not work.

Senthil,

For purpose of clarification ...

By "next major product update (with version change)" do you mean v22... Or do you mean a v21.x bump up?  To me a "major product update" would imply a v21.x to v22.x move, and historically such updates occur only annually (and  we just got that one.)  So please elaborate.

John

Re: "Go Cloud" Window

Hi John,

I can't answer for Norton, but the way I understand it, an minor update is what you get daily with no change in version number, a major update changes the version number as in v 21.0 to v 21.1 to v 21.2 etc.  I do not evcer remember hearing any % of change or other determining factor which causes the version change from .1 to .2 etc.

An UPGRADE is what changes the version number from 21 to 22 or 23 etc.

Of course I could be full of it too - so wait for the Norton response!

Yes. Bruce,

You are right.  21.1  will be the next product update.

Thanks,

The list of changes posted in the NIS forum for the current update "Product Update - 21.1 of Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus" does not include this update.

Hi David,

While the list doesn't show it, that fix has been made. Thanks.
