Graphs stopped working

Hi.

Norton Security Deluxe 22.9.0.71 - Graphs - Performance - Usage: shows "No Activity" / Graph is empty (10m, 30m & 90m).

Uninstalled/Reinstalled NS - worked again - but, after (cold)boot, stopped working.

Ran NPE(reboot) - worked again - but, after (cold)boot, stopped working.

Ran NPE(reboot) again - Graphs doesn't work.

Also, don´t know if this is related, after opening Firefox it started to repeatedly reload some login-webpages. After shut down and reopening FF this was remedied (seems to be a script issue). But, the error reoccurs after cold-boot and, starting FF first instance.

What to do?

Re: Graphs stopped working

Hi 00360,

Are you on WIN 8 or WIN 10?  Do you have Fast Start disabled?  Have you tired with another browser?

Re: Graphs stopped working

Hello

Label says Windows 10. Fast Startup should be disabled. Win 10 computer needs to be shut down and started up correctly. Do you have  any other real time security program installed? Was the previous security program removed properly using the removal tool from the previous vendor before installing Norton.? Please do not use Edge at this time.

Thanks.

Re: Graphs stopped working

Hi.

As said, it's win10, 64 bit and latest version of Norton Security Deluxe.

I remember having this problem before, as then did many users. Turning Fast Start on/off never remedied the graph error. It was fixed by a later update (i.e. Live Update).

I did test Malwarebytes for a while but, uninstalled it (due to heavy impact on memory and, thus slow performance). Can't see any leftovers from MB.

About Edge, I don't use it but Task Mgr shows that it takes a lot of bandwith (probably background tasks).

Still, why doesn't uninstall/reinstall fix the Graph issue?

Re: Graphs stopped working

Hello

I remember the last time when there was a problem with the graphs. I think that time it was a problem with some .dll which was fixed with a Live Update. I had that issue the last time, but I don't have it now. I wonder if there is another program that is interfering with Norton?

Thanks.

Re: Graphs stopped working

Hi

Seems like Live Update fixed it again - Graphs now up and running.

Thanks Y'all!

Re: Graphs stopped working

My NIS just updated to ver. 22.9.1.12 and the performance graphs are still not working.  After a cold boot, the graphs will function nominally until the very next time the PC is put into either sleep or hibernation; after which they stop working.

Re: Graphs stopped working

Norton Customer Support has confirmed that the Symantec HTML Interface symhtml.dll (C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Engine\22.9.1.12\symhtml.dll) is the cause of the problem and is working on a bug fix that requires a "major change to the engine".   Kudos to dcp06 for posting this information today in  Mario_Chacon's 's thread CPU Usage Not Showing.
