Here we go again!

The safe Web icons are missing once again when doing a search on either FF29.0.1 or IE 11 using Google and / or Bing search engines.... sigh!

This is effecting two W7 x64 machines.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: Here we go again!

With Chrome and IE11 (i don't have Firefox) I do get the safe web icons.

EDIT: Just wondering... Did you receive the new version 21.3?  Perhaps it fixes this issue for those who were having it (not me, I'd the safe web icons also with NIS 21.2, sometimes they did not appear but refreshing the page would bring them back...)

Re: Here we go again!

Hmmm,  they are back  and they're gone again.  Perhaps it was a momentary problem with the Safe Web servers, I won't mark this thread as solved just yet though.

No, I haven't received any part of v21.3 update as of yet.  Usually any new updates are rolled out in a phased manner, as you know.

Re: Here we go again!

Hi, Krusty13.

I haven't received the latest version of Norton either, but earlier before I turned off my computer (posting from my tablet now), I checked in Google and I saw the Safe Web icons.

Hello Krusty

If you get the problem again, click on the vault in IE 11. You do not have to use the vault and I don't use it. On the left side on the bottom is a little cogwheel. Click on that and you will see a chart.  On top check off enable Norton safe web. You should also see a dot that says Internet Explorer---Everything is ok.

I think if the safe search web is there, then the safe web icons should show up also.

Re: Here we go again!

Thanks, Flo.

IE is already configured and the Safe Web icons disappeared from Firefox at the same time, with same thing on my other system too.

Re: Here we go again!

I didn't have ABP installed in IE when this started.

Edit :  That link is about the toolbar not working in Chrome, so I don't believe it relates here, thanks though.

Yes, I was aware of that but I thought it could explain the issue also for other browsers with ABP...

The toolbar works OK  -  well, most of the time in FF, it is just the Safe Web icons disappear from time to time.

Re: Here we go again!

I have not seen the safe web icons for a couple of months now when using the search on the Canadian Yahoo site:

https://ca.yahoo.com/

But if I use the US Yahoo site then I have the safe web icons - go figure ?

I have resorted to using the Firefox add-on WOT (Web of Trust) which works just fine.

Re: Here we go again!

The safe web icons seem to be acting up for me on google for IE11 again.  FF works fine, and IE11 was working fine for a while now.  It seems like either yesterday or today the safe web search icons are back to where sometimes they show, and sometimes they don't unless I page forward and back again.  Don't know what changed over the past day or so??

Re: Here we go again!

Hi,

I've just checked and they seem to working OK for me in Google and Bing searches at the moment.  Maybe a local problem?  I did notice when I first searched Google the icons were a little slow to appear, maybe two or three seconds.

Re: Here we go again!

Oct 5'th and still missing safe search icons- These icons are a major feature of NIS- and still they don't work? Using IE11, windows 7- and the icons don't work in any search engine- google, yahoo, bing etc- sometimes they hsow up for a couple of pages of results, then disappear, sometimes they only show up every other search result page- but mostly they are just missing altogether- I've had to install the free MacAfee  site advisor which shows safety results similar ot nortons- because my PAID FOR Norton internet security refuses to show site safety marks.

I see many folks are having this same problem, and no solution now for many months? And no word from symantic on the issue?

Re: Here we go again!

I did an uninstall and used the Norton Removal Tool as well. Then reinstalled and I have had the toolbar and Identity safe working for two reboots so far.

It might be worth a try.

Re: Here we go again!

The site ratings were working fine for me in Google Search until about 2 weeks ago on IE 11.  Now it's intermittent - sometimes the ratings show up; other times, not.  Because of this problem, I have been using either Norton Safe Search or Bing since the site ratings show up - though I prefer Google.  Everyday I check to see if the site ratings are back to normal, but so far, no luck.  If this is a glitch, hope Norton fixes it soon.

It was happening on Chrome also; but this morning, the site ratings are back.  Hope it stays that way.
