How do I automate manually updating definitions?
Norton all too often fails to update definitions and clicking "FIX" only takes up time doing nothing. I've waited 1.25, .5, .25 hours. This happens at least 2 - 3 times a month now over the last 6 months.
A Norton phone person said that the server was up and down at times, but I doubt that would be allowed to continue this long.
Is there a way with a bat file, or Task set that will get, download and install the definitions?
- I was working with Norton people but: Over time, they have all done the same thing. They log in, download the downloader that downloads and installs the Norton Remover.
They run the Norton remover.
They download the downloader that downloads and installs Norton.
They say it's fixed.
They won't believe me when I tell them I can do that!
- I tried the manual method of downloading the definitions for my system, but that took three days of battling with Norton just to get the link, and then refused to give me the name of the right file for my system. It was in this forum that I found immediate help in finding the correct file. THANK YOU!
Manually finding the correct file of definitions, downloading it, running it, and closing it, and rebooting - all takes time.
Is there a way that with a bat file, or Task set up to just run the bat or Task that will get, download and install the definitions?
Thank you. Your taking the time to read this is much appreciated.
