How do i recover online backups for a computer with failed hard disk

I have Norton 360 5 user license and got 9Gb of data backed up. My laptop hard disk has failed and i can't seem to access the data although i know it is saved online. When i use another PC on the same license i can only recover backups for that PC. My laptop has effectively died so how do i access its online back up data. I assumed the idea of backing up was that it would be recoverable in the event of disaster.

Advice would be very much appreciated.Thanks.

Re: How do i recover online backups for a computer with failed hard disk

Hi John,

That's normal since those backups are tied to that machine. There are a couple of ways to restore the other content:

  • Reinstall Norton 360 on the machine that has the dead hard drive once its replaced. It will then allow you to connect and retrieve the data you need.
  • Going to https://n360.backup.com will allow you to access your data via the web. Take note though this has a limitation of single file downloads unless you also have Norton Online Backup.

If you have put a new hard drive in the system and want to reinstall Norton 360 head over to http://www.mynortonaccount.com. Login and you can get your product key as well as the download link for the software. Once done you can either reach out to Tier 1 support and they can take you through the next few steps or post back.
