How do you completely stop a full system scan?

Full system scan keeps starting almost any time, especially when I'm on the PC doing CPU demanding stuff or games. I have 'background tasks' supposedly configured to run at 3 A.M. but this is getting to be a real problem. I know you used to be able to configure these tasks to run at certain times but I can't find the options to do it now (v 22.11.2.7).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, go to Settings > Antivirus > Scans and Risks and scroll down to The Scan options.

You can then configure the Full Scan to run manually, at a time that suits YOU.

I set it to run, have lunch, and it's done by the time I get back !

I had it set to run at 3 A.M. Tuesday and Friday (in the above options) but it continues to try to run at any time and I have to manually cancel it. Any reason it doesn't honor the schedule I set for it, outside of actually not allowing it to run at all?

Do you have Windows 10?  Do you have Windows Defender Limited Periodic Scanning enabled?

For some strange reason Norton starts a Full System Scan when ever Windows Defender runs a scan.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.
