How to open ports in Norton firewall?

I'm have a problem with connection in one game.

People recommended me to open those ports TCP:80, 443, 54992~54994, 55006~55007, 55021~55040.

How can I change it in Norton firewall?

Re: How to open ports in Norton firewall?

Hello greendio

If the game is a legit game, it should run ok without opening up ports. Make sure the .exe file for the game is listed in the Firewall. If you allow in the game, I t should work. That is why it is called Smart Firewall.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Re: How to open ports in Norton firewall?

Thanks but I think I found the issue.

Norton is really not ok with BattlEye anti-cheat system in game cause it's trying to get access to norton process.

I really don't want to risk ban on my account for blocking anti cheat program. Is there any option to allow full access in firewall to battleye service? I'm sure it's not malicious program. BattlEye status is "trusted" but it's still blocked

Someone on steam forum using norton aswell and recommended to disable  "Automatic Program Control" but I don't think it's good idea

Re: How to open ports in Norton firewall?

Hello

You could put that file into Settings>Antivirus>Scans and Risks>Exclusions/LowRisks> Put the file or folder into these 3 configures

Hope this helps. Please let us know. This screenshot might be a little old, but it is very similar to the current one.

Have a Nice Day and

Thanks.

FWIW!!! https://steamcommunity.com/app/295110/discussions/0/451848854982481132/

This anti-cheat appears to be your issue. The Valve VAC anti-cheat systems should be sufficient without that trash running on your system creating havoc. I run and manage two game servers on Steam through NFO and have never had a false ban on my servers with VAC. My mod's however DO have anti-cheat addon's which have been used for ages with the HL1 / 2 / Gary's Mod and the like. Just a note of caution on the program you are using.

Re: How to open ports in Norton firewall?

I agree that BattlEye is really bad anti-cheat program. Sadly only Valve games using VAC.

And what's is more annoying that more and more games using BattlEye. But I can still imagine that this anti-cheat is better than nothing because cheaters killing games.

I just don't want to end with ban on my profile for being totally innocent

If you are playing ANY game on the steam network VAC watches your local client. Trust me.  Give us a screenshot of what you are seeing, here is how to post those: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/how-post-image-forums-0

Re: How to open ports in Norton firewall?

Well if I get ban on my account it can't be VAC ban but BattlEye and it's ban in every game using BattlEye system

It's basically "unauthorized access blocked (access process data)" and process name is nortonsecurity.exe

I'm not surprised to be honest because that happen many times. Like for example with malwarebytes scan it's blocked aswell or even when running program just stop working and I'm trying to close it in task manager.

Years ago I tried other game with another anti-cheat program and norton blocked it aswell.

I know that every anti-cheat program checking your processes in game to block every suspicious process like cheat engine

Re: How to open ports in Norton firewall?

unauthorized access blocked (access process data)  is usually just Norton Product Tamper Protection stopping any and all attempts to access a Norton file or process. This is normal, even for legitimate Windows processes that might try to access a Norton file or process.

These detections should not be causing your original problem with the game. Instead of manually trying to set up the firewall, try resetting the Norton firewall.

To reset the Norton firewall, from the main Norton Security screen click on Settings - Firewall. On the General tab, click on Reset beside Firewall Reset. Restart your computer. As you use programs that access your network/internet, the firewall rules will be created again.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: How to open ports in Norton firewall?

Like I said before I had some connection problems but now I'm sure that's because my internet last few days.

So I can't see this "unauthorized access blocked (access process data)" doing anything with the game right now but it pops every 6 seconds in my norton history. Even if it's not doing anything in the game I'm kinda worried that one day it might trigger BattleEye and as a result ban me for this.
