How to Stop Annoying Browser Add-On Pop-Ups

It used to be just Chrome but now this "reminder" is being displayed for all computers since Internet Explorer is always installed.

Other than opening the browsers and waiting 10 or so minutes for these annoying pop-ups to be displayed, is there a way to prevent them from being displayed in the 1st place (or a trick to force them to be displayed immediately so "Don't ask me again" can be selected)?

Enable Norton browser extensions > cycle browser to confirm > set browser extensions to your preference [enable / disable] > cycle browser to confirm.
Norton wants user to experience Norton browser extensions.  After you satisfy Norton.  Set to user preference.  When Norton updates version number.  User may have to satisfy Norton again.

Re: How to Stop Annoying Browser Add-On Pop-Ups

I have always done this as a matter of routine installation but it definitely does not stop these pop-ups from being displayed.  I can enable, restart, disable (IE), enable, restart, disable or simply delete (Chrome) and these pop-ups are still displayed until you select "Don't ask me again".

Okay, I offered as works for me.  YMMV

run LiveUpdates several times until no updates found > re-start not under the influence of Fast Startup > repeat

No, that definitely does not work. I have also asked it very nicely to stop doing it but that doesn't seem to work either. I assume the answer is a registry update.

Have you clicked the Don't ask me again link in the pop ups?

Yes, my question is how to prevent these from being displayed in the first place.

Re: How to Stop Annoying Browser Add-On Pop-Ups

Norton has recently started pushing these types of messages to let users know of protection that has not yet been enabled in the product. There does not seem to be a way to block the initial message. Just click on Don't ask me again should stop the same message from being displayed again.

And this makes no sense when you have over 100 accounts with 5 or fewer users that were configured properly but get now get this message after an automatic upgrade. It is too aggressive and intrusive. .

How about when Norton prompts you, think of Norton prompt as a reminder to check Norton settings.   After a version number change.  I check settings.

Re: How to Stop Annoying Browser Add-On Pop-Ups

In the real world if you are a business and have a large install base using this product, displaying unwanted pop ups is a pain in the axx and unwanted by all and users. I'm not looking for people replying to justify why Norton is doing it or how I should just accept it as a bonus, I'm looking for someone to tell me how to prevent it from happening.

Glad it works for you, it does not answer my question at all so it is not a solution. I realize some of you guys enjoy uping your numbers by posting honestly pointless things such as the last reply but it does not help anything other than your profile score. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the link to India based support because I have never chatted or called these contacts before even though I have literally hundreds of seats of this product installed in the field. If you did not have a valid solution for the specific question I asked, I would appreciate it if you would just let this thread go and stop posting to it.

Norton is mass market, offered AS IS.  Norton may not satisfy all users, all the time. Regards

Hmm, over 100 accounts. I was reading Community member, as one user.  I'll try to bump your concerns.  IDK, if Norton Small Business Solution / Enterprise is a better fit.

Is this one company or do you help support multiple clients? If it is one company, you would probably be better served with a Small Business or Enterprise solution. That way you should not see these kind of messages.

Norton is mainly aimed at home users that want a set it and forget it solution. Yes, there will always be expert users that want more control, but they have to use what they are given.

All residential and small businesses w/ 5 or less computers and no server. 100s of separate accounts Endpoint is not a viable or logical solution.

and valid solution would be.... hmm, use security solution AS IS.  Are your clients complaining. Perhaps offer enable/disable/user-preference to your clients.  Works for my clients.

See my previous post. If you don't have a solution, don't post. You are not doing anyone any favors and are only feeding your ego on a Norton forum.
