I receive a new tab almost daily in Chrome prompting "Update Required" for Chrome extensions. There is no way to disable this prompt. How can I stop it from occurring?
Sorry if you have done this, but the obvious question would be, have you updated the Chrome extensions?
Thanks for the response, Krusty13. The question is warranted and the answer is no, I have not. The reasoning is simply that the Chrome extensions I have already installed are working fine. I object to the idea that I am not given the option to opt out of the update and that I am constantly being forced to address the annoying update request.
So my question remains: How to stop the Chrome extension update request?
I don't have an answer for you Paul. All I can do is post a link explaining why they consider it important to update.
Norton Browser Extensions Update on Google Chrome
I know it's not what you were after but I doubt there is any fix available.
Another obvious suggestion. When the pop up appears, do you click on 'Do not ask again'? Either that or clicking through the popup will usually stop the pop ups until Norton sends through another update.
Here's the web page added as a new tab in my Chrome browser each day. The only actionable option is the Update Now button. There is no way that I can see to disable it.
Do you use the Norton Home Page extension? If so you should update it so you have the latest version. If not, try clicking on Learn More below the Update Now button. That may have the same effect as I noted above for clicking through the notice.
Yes, I had tried the Learn More link but it provides a little more about what the Update entails and nothing else. This Norton web page is really annoying. There needs to be a way to disable it.
Norton still hijacking my browser. No way to stop it.
Sorry for the issue you are facing.
New extension almost provides same experience as your existing one.
Why I need to update now ?
-> Any new features that is planned will be added to only this new extension going forward
-> Any defect fixes will be planned only for this new extension going forward
So we strongly recommend you to migrate to this new extension by clicking "Update Now" button and later from Chrome web store page click "Add to Chrome" and update to this new extension.
you can try to remove the extension of Norton and exit browser and re-add it. this way it becomes updated without any problems.
revert back if it requires.
