Hello

Try turning off automatic updates in Chrome if there is such a thing. Sorry, I don't use Chrome.

Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.17.3.50 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Google Chrome does not mess with bookmarks. Settings can be changed by clicking on the settings (3 dots). If you log into Google Chrome it will backup your settings automatically. Which dll files are you referring to? Turning off auto updates is as big of a risk as turning off Windows auto updates or Norton auto updates.  Google Chrome is fully customisable. Make it how you want it,

@humber:

Maybe, you can enable "Ask where to save each file before downloading" option @ chrome://settings/search#download. For example, you can CANCEL that download to save your network bandwidth.

And, did you visit some dll file download website? If so, plz go to MS Answers and avoid using those digital snake oil

DLL Download Sites Should NOT be Your Source for DLL Files

And to stop Chrome from updating automatically, plz read the following how-tos:

Thx~ :)

Re: How to tell norton to block google from downloading dll files into my pc?

Browsers and computers are updated automatically by default to protect the users. Turning these features off will leave ones computer open for security holes, vulnerabilities and exploits. Google updates Chrome about every 30 days or so. Mainly due to security updates. Unless one checks weekly for updates manually your browser could be exploited. As far as changing the download folder or asking where to save them that is different then what the person is asking. People do not just download dll files off the internet. They were speaking of Google itself. When you logi into Google Chrome it will sync your settings across all computers you are using when you log into Google Chrome. With Google Chrome you can use it by logging into it. You can alse use it without logging into it. But the advantage of logging into it is that all your settings are backed up into your Google account via the cloud.
