I am running Firefox 40. Norton IDSAfe has disappeared from toolbar. Is there a FIX for this?

Running Firefox 40 (NOT 41) and all of a sudden my ID Safe disappeared from the toolbar. Is there a fix for this?

AND with all the trouble this Firefox vs Norton (360 Premier in my case) has caused...do I get my money back?

This is really ridiculous. I did NOT upgrade Firefox and I still lost my toolbar. I have part of it back but not having the ID Safe and all my

passwords autofilled it is really a chore to be on the internet. I think we deserve a partial refund for the non usability of something we purchased.

This is ridiculous and I am done. I have purposely stayed at FF 40.0.3 so that I could have the Norton ID Safe integrated with my browser, but the patch today took it away even though it worked with my version of FF. Now I have to see if I can uninstall the patch and go back to where I was. I am looking for a new password keeper and probably new security software. I hate McAfee but they might be the lesser of 2 evils.

UPDATE: Just spent 30 minutes in a chat session with Norton Support. Not only can you NOT uninstall a patch, they will not send me the Toolbar version that works with my version of FF. I need Toolbar 2015.5.2.24 and they refused to email it to me or get it to me in anyway. I have worked in IT/software for 30 years and I understand that nothing happens overnight, but this has been going on way too long. Get your ACT TOGETHER NORTON!

Well stated, Jules 728!  I could have written the first paragraph myself, except that I did upgrade to FF41 .  FWIW, several years ago I abandoned McAfee and turned to Norton after a McAfee update deleted all of my e-mails from Outlook Express.  Turns out it was a "known issue" without a fix-- McAfee's response was "Whoops, sorry about that!".

Meanwhile, back at the Norton ranch:  Identity Safe and the password manager are far and away the most useful (ex) features in the Norton Toolbar.  The toolbar "stub" that now displays on FF (presumably from yesterday's patch) just adds insult to injury.

I'm also offended by the article/bulletin that minimizes this ongoing screw-up, and makes vague promises that Identity Safe/Vault features will be restored in some unspecified time in the future.  Not only is that not good enough, it's salt in the wound.

Norton management seems oblivious or indifferent to the extent to which their business depends on trust.  Those of us without technical backgrounds trust that all of the alleged protections-- virus & antispam definitions, etc. really work as advertised.  Now I'm not so sure.

Maybe they don't mind losing customers who use Firefox-- because their response to this legitmate problem is so abysmal that it's as if they're daring us to jump ship.  I'm starting to shop for a replacement.

Re: I am running Firefox 40. Norton IDSAfe has disappeared from toolbar. Is there a FIX for this?

Hi All,

Look, for what it's worth I thought I would share my experience.

I had been a long time user of Norton Security products. Until the Windows 10 updates.  What a disaster, endless problems, not the least of which is the issue discussed in this thread.  Some of you have expressed the desire to find another solution, and that is exactly what I did.

I abandoned my Norton subscription (which luckily only had 60 odd days remaining) and purchased the new Bitdefender Internet Security 2016.  After a couple of minor setup issues I have been very happy with the performance of the Bitdefender product.

To replace Identity Safe I exported all my logon information to a CSV format file and abandoned Identity Safe and the Norton Toolbar. In its place I am now using "LastPass", a freeware product with a premium payware option.  LastPass is an excellent replacement for Identity Safe and functions in almost the same way, in fact I find it better and more flexible.  I was also able to import my saved Logon information via the CSV file I had exported before removing Norton completely.

I am now running with none of the Norton security products and am much happier for it.  I was however VERY disappointed that after years reliable support Symantec managed to trash it's product with only one or two updates.

That's my story anyway. If you are also looking for alternatives, then Bitdefender 2016 and LastPass are well worth your consideration.

Best Regards.

Are you using NoScript?

If so, this thread may be useful:

You could try the workaround (open a second Firefox window and then close the first window) to see if it works for you - if so, it might be preferable to disabling NoScript.

Hello

The ID Safe should be restored with phase 2 update when that is all finished and tested out completely. It's better to wait a little longer than to get an update which isn't completely finished and working as it should. In the meantime, there are workarounds which keeps the programs working. Think of it like a detour in the highway. You have to follow the detours until the highway is completed It happens even on toll highways and on bridges also. Sometimes it even ends up costing you an extra toll when you used the detour. If you want to continue using that highway or bridge, that the price you have to pay. This is only a temporary problem. The ID Safe will be back.

Thanks.
